Steve has as much invested in this team as Rudy, CD, and Les. A bballer, like all athletes, only has a finite amount of time to play and Steve is ready for HIS team to progress. I dont know if he is approaching it the right way, but I am sure that he truly doesn't believe Ming is the right fit and he's letting Rudy know it. If we draft Ming I doubt Steve will leave his pal Cuttino anyway, but I would sure think twice about the possibility of it happening. IF that were the case and IF we drafted Ming anyway and IF he were a bust then we would be screwed for a long long time. Trade the pick, possibly losing the heart of the team I have-for one-grown to love is enough to turn me off to what IS a huge risk by Rudy T and Co. Buts thats my opinion.
Not only that, but why can't Steve have a private opinion? It's not like he has spoken out in public that he thinks Yao Ming is going to suck and he'll opt for free agency if they draft this guy. All I've heard him say publicly is he would like to have someone who could help the Rockets win immediatly and that he doesn't know very much about Yao Ming. If the people/person who posted about Steve's opinion is in fact an acquaintance of Steve, I seriously doubt Steve intended for him or anyone else to post it on a heavily-visited Internet forum or leak it to the media. Until Steve chooses to make his disgust public, I'm not going to worry about it too much.
