No one every talks about this, why don't we play Hill at the backup 5?
He's 6'10" and like 235lbs and has 71.5" wingspan and good hops.

I think a rotation between 4/5 of Yao, Scola, Hill, Patterson and Hayes should be okay.

    Let me know your opinions...

Your right. He would be a very athletic center behind Yao. But if the Rockets go after Stoudemire and Barbosa for Scola. Battier, and Brooks then your getting an all-star, but that being said I like Hill as the backup center.

He can, people are tripping on Clutchfans.

Patrick Patterson and Jordan Hill will destroy opposing bigs off the bench...

Chuck Hayes back as the defensive specialist.

    Andrew Bynum/Yao Ming
    Pau Gasol/Luis Scola
Lamar Odom/Patrick Patterson, Jordan Hill, Chuck Hayes

    Our frontline is LOADED...

I am hoping for a size upgrade at the G/SF spot.

size. He needs to gain some muscle so he can defend the 5. I hope he can gain strength and keep his quick feet. work on his hands.

Not strong or heavy enough to play 5 full time.

He's small. He gives up 20-60 lbs against opposing centers.

I say let Hill and Patterson duke it out! Kind of the same way Budinger and Taylor compteted for the playing time.

I like Jordan Hill's game. And now I hear that Patterson was rated as high as 6th by the Rockets. It will be interesting.

I'm expecting to see a 6 pick type of talent now!! You've just put a lot of pressure on you Morey!! ;)

    1) 235 lbs is really light for a center. Chuck Hayes is 4 inches shorter and weighs 240.

    2) I sure hope he's got a wingspan greater than 71.5". I'm 6'1" and I've got a wingspan bigger than that.

Scola is 6'9" and 245, didn't he play alot at the 5 last year and it doesn't look like he is that strong, but very savy and good understanding of the game.

sorry about that, I saw it on http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Jordan-Hill-1222/ and misread it, it's actually 7' 1.5" .... weird way of putting it, should have been 85.5" wingspan

Their interior defense was horrible, last season. Rockets dropped to 17th in defensive efficiency from 4th. They went from a 2nd round playoff team to a lottery team. Rockets did not have enough size. It was clear as day.

Yao and Patrick Patterson will take care of that. And a vastly improved Jordan Hill who has been a workhorse all summer...

what was the difference between the two teams....

    Yao vs. Hayes
    Scola vs. Scola
    Artest vs. Ariza
    Landry vs. Hill

Hayes may be better in the low post on defense but you can't teach 7'5" intimidation factor.... I'm guessing everyone attacked the interior last year because Hayes wasn't gonna block anyone's shot.

Scola is Scola, but this year he got more mins it seemed like and he's not that great an interior defender.

Artest > Ariza... Ariza is more a perimeter defender and Artest is just a tuff defender period.

Landry was an OK defender and Hill was still a rookie just learning, but I think he'll be a above avg defender.

so I believe our interior defense will be better this year, I think we need to worry more about Martin's defensive skills....

Agreed. Your argument for Scola at 5 was horrible.

    Just to give you perspective:

    Landry - 6'7.75 w/o shoes, 6'8.5 w shoes, 6'11 wingspan, 8'6.5 standing reach
    Patterson - 6'8 w/o shoes, 6'9.25 w shoes, 7'1.25 wingspan, 8'11 standing reach
    Scola - 6'9?? w shoes...
    Hill - 6'9.25 w/o shoes, 6'10.25 w shoes, 7'1.5 wingspan, 9'0 standing reach

    (Al Jefferson - 6'8.5 w/o, 6'9.75 w shoes, 7'2.5 wingspan , 9'2 standing reach)
    (Dwight Howard - 6'9 w/o, 6'10.25 w shoes, 7'4.5 wingspan, 9'3.5 standing reach)

    (Bosh - 6'10.25 w/o, 6'11.5 w shoes, 7'3.5 wingspan, 9'1 standing reach)

I didn't include weight because that is going to go up each year they're in the NBA, but from a logistical standpoint I think we'll be ok with Patterson and Hill as the primary 4/5 backups.

He can play the backup center, I don't know why everyone is getting so upset. In the 90s 6'10 was considered fine for the center position, the idea that a center has to be 7 feet is a new fad.

As for him weighing only 235. Marcus Camby, Joakim Noah, Chris Bosh, Lamarcus Aldridge, Tyson Chandler, Andris Biedrins, Chris Andersen, Marcin Gortat, Ben Wallace all played a good amount of minutes at center last season while weighing the same as Hill or less

I think some people like to say something is totally impossible without checking to see if it's been done before. That happens on here a lot. Hill has already proven some people in NY wrong. I think he would be a good backup for Yao and gaining weight ain't a hard thing to do.

Jordan Hills potential lies at the 4 spot, Patterson is hopefully just trade bait.... :p
