What causes you to be a rockets fan? Simple question. For me its that Growing up with Texas roots, I have always rooted for them. That and being a huge Olajuwon/barkley fan. I always will be a Rocket. ------------------ "Kenny, The Basketball scientist, Whoo Hoo." Charley B, on TNT
Calvin Murphy. When I was a kid, I carried around his b-ball card with me all the time. He and Robert Reid were my heroes. Dr. J made me a hoops fan. Murphy made me a Rockets fan. After I got hooked on the team, it didn't matter who played for them. I've been a fan ever since. ------------------ Me fail English? That's unpossible.
I have no idea after the Miami game. Maybe Im just a SUCKER! DAMN THEY ARE PISSING ME OFF!!!!! They keep on whining about how no fans come to the game. WELL WHY THE HELL SHOULD THEY COME IF THEY KEEP ON LOSING AT HOME!!!!! Sorry for rambling. Im okay now. Im became a fan because of Hakeem Horry and Sam. ------------------ SUCK POLICE!!!!!! To point out individuals or teams that have managed to reach the pinnacle of SUCKINESS!!!!! ----- GIANTS SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I started watching the NBA around ´91 and never cared much about teams, i just liked some players. My favourite back then was Drexler, and i just got to watch the finals, as back then cable didn´t exist. Seeing Barkley carry the Suns to the finals against Jordan also led me to develop an appreciation for the round mound of rebound. He was truly incredible back then. Jordan, of course, was also awesome. Of course, there was also those teams i happened to hate: the Knicks and Orlando, as i always had a special dislike for Shaq and Ewing. That´s how i came to see and eventually love the Rockets, seeing the Dream dueling against the brutal Knicks and the next year sweeping Orlando with Drexler by his side. By then i had become a Rocket fan for life. And my allegiance had extended to the Rockets organization, not just the players who happened to be on the team at the time. When the Chuckster came aboard, it was almost a dream team for me. It´s shame that we never got to see that Rockets team against the Bulls in the finals. My 4 favourite players going against each other in the finals would have been awesome. Not that i didn´t appreciate Jordan destroying the Jazz for two years straight. Of course, though i have bashed Rudy to no end when i used to be on the ESPN boards due to the dump it in kick it out offense, i love the guy and he is showing to be more versatil e than i ever thought he could be. Shame that i only get TNT/TBS here on Brazil, as Rockets games are scarcer than ever, as most of you know. At least I have been able to follow the exploits of the Rockets for the past 4 years through the internet. ------------------ "Dream another dream, this dream is over... Dream another dream, this dream is over... Dream another dream..." - from the Van Halen song, "The Dream is Over" (Thank you, Freak). Fitting, isn´t it?
I'd have to say that for me, it was Murphy. The guy's personality was just like it is today, except he had a little attitude. He didn't take crap off of anyone. I can't remember how many times I saw him get up off the floor after a big man knocked him down & put the big man down. Murph wasn't afraid of anyone on the floor. He's a little man with a lotta fight. ------------------
I loved the way The Dream played. In fact, i used to try and mimic his moves( to a certain degree of success). But I started out with Drexler.. and when he went to Houston, it was a dream come true.. ------------------ Do not harm little children!
Magic got me into the NBA... "Twin Towers" got me into the Rockets. ------------------ Big A, little a bouncing B, The System might have got you, but it won't get me.
For me it was Hakeem. I have always liked him and when he went to the Rockets from college-I went with him. ------------------ "Stop your grinnin' and drop your linen" -Hudson
Hakeem made me a Rockets fan. I may realize my dream, seeing him in person, next week at Philadelphia, Rockets at 76ers. ------------------
Matt Bullard. j/k Although I do like Bullard, Sir Charles made me a Rocket fan. The game will never be the same without him. A terrific athlete and one of my personal heroes. ------------------ Don't come in Bullard's house!
Moses Malone His rebounding ability and his will to win were amazing to me. I was a tenacious rebounder in high school, all because of watching Malone play. I loved how he would tip the ball to himself or to the backboard to keep a rebound alive. ------------------ Behad Sergeant at Arms of the Clutch BBS Asking the question: What is more dangerous, an AK-47 or a scooter?
Because they play the best basketball in my home town! I don't care who is out on that court; I'm there.
Simply because I'm a Houstonian. My brother forced me to be a basketball fan and then... what other team would I root for? It's weird how many people have determined their allegiances based on individual players. Maybe the NBA's marketing strategy is not as far off as I thought. ------------------ RealGM Rockets Draft Obligations Summary Gafford Art Artisan
Originally because Hakeem was one of my favorite players(next to Charles Barkley), but given the recent events(Hakeem being an a$$hole) it's just because I love this game and this team. ------------------ "Clinton lied. one day, I asked myself "why be a fan of the nuggets, when I can root for the rockets?!" after that...i think its pretty clear ------------------ the nuggets suck...i know, i know!
