First 10 games: 04-05, 4-6, Detroit, Toronto, MemphisX2, Sacramento,Minnesota, LAL, New Jersy, Alanta, NY. 05-06, 3-7, Sacramento, NO, Orlando, Miami,New Jersey, Boston,Minnesota, San Antonio, Detroit, Indania 06-07, 6-4, Utah,Dallas, NO, Memphis, Milwaukee, Detroit, NY, Miami, San Antonio, Chicago. We had the best result for the first 10 games with a relatively toughest schedule in 3 years. Why are we so upset? We lost to 2 power teams in SA and Detroit, 2 up coming teams in Utah and NO. We beat Dallas and Miami and the rest we supposed to beat. The next 10 games are relatively easier with only Phoneix and Cleveland being strongest and only Cleveland and Golden State have better records than us. Even if we do not improve and maintain our performance, that is, beat what we supposed to beat and loose to 'better' teams, we shall be 8-2 for the next 10 games, or 14-6 after 20 games..... Not enough? Our opponents in the first 10 games are 48-48 total and for the next 10 games, 38-56. Cheers.
Because the team hasn't played perfectly like an well-oiled machine? It's the internet message board culture: After every loss, everybody (not just Rockets fans, every fan) thinks they can do a better job coaching/GM-ing than the actual coach and GM. The team's got some problems, but relax already. Every team has problems, including championship teams. You don't trade every player and fire every coach just because your team has some problems. Otherwise, the Heat team last season would have been blown up and rebuilt 4 or 5 times already.
In every 1000 members who join Clutchfans, there's always a Van Gundier hidden amongst them. Great post. The Rockets are doing fine right now, we are not expected to go 82-0 nor 0-82. With the current record, we'll be headed to the Playoffs sooner or later.
my reasons to be upset: 1) the way this team are playing. 2) the wasted talent. 3) incompetent and hopeless coaching. 4) fading superstars. 5) team chamistry, confidence falling apart 6) no championship this year for sure, that window is closing. 7) Utah is kicking ass. 8) high expectations, which was reasonable at the beginning of this season.
It's the way we lose. Stinking it up in the 4th. We blew big leads to NY, Mil, SA, and Chi, and was outscored 26-14 by the Pistons in the 4th. We lost 2 of those, so we should really be 8-2. I did assume we would go 10-5 in November, and with the remaining schedule that should be our mark.
Hey if we win 60% of our games this year we are gonna make it to the playoffs. it doesnt matter what seed we play against in the playoffs, you have to be able to beat EVERYONE in order to win a championship.
every year i have higher hopes for the Rockets and every year they have improved their roster. so why do they always underachieve when they start out? last year, T-Mac was never healthy, but a 3-11 start was unacceptable. just because the Rockets are a little better starting this year doesn't change the fact that they have still grossly underachieved for whatever reasons. they still play very ugly, stupid, and cowardly basketball in the fourth quarter and no way can you win a championship that way.
Playoff seeding matters. This team desperately needs to get out of the first round. So you want to meet inferior opponents in the first round. If this team can't finish in the top 4 seeds this year, it will be another tough first round exit.
The reason I'm so upset is because we keep blowing leads. In my opinion when we are ahead late in the 3rd or the 4th quarter, and then the other team makes adjustments, our coach does not have the ability or know-how to counter-adjust. We have the talent to beat any team in the league in a 7 game series, I just don't think we have the brains behind the talent to do it (JVG). He is a good defensive coach, but the flip side to it is that he doesn't know wtf to do when the other teams' coach makes defensive adjustments against our guys. This is why we keep losing. He is too concrete in his ways and tries to do the same thing over and over again despite failure in the 4th. Could we blame the players? yes, but ultimately he is the one doing the decision making. If you don't see that we are being clearly out-coached in almost everygame, then we're watching different games. How many freaking leads do we have to blow before a light goes up in JVG's head and he starts making adequate changes.
the Rockets are not the type of team that can coast at 60% ball the regular season and all of a sudden play 85% ball (championship ball) in the playoffs. that win-every-game mentality has to start now, especially against the San Antonios and Detroits of the league.
If i remember right before this group of games it was said how we would be happy to go 2-2 vs. some of the elite teams in the league and the good thing in my mind is that we have. We pounded the world champs. and put very good showings in our 2 loses.. AND THAT WAS WITHOUT OR STARTING PF AND OUR 6th MAN...
I was almost equally upset after the win over Bulls. It is not all about wins and losses. It is about watching the same mistake repeated again and again and NOTHING is done to adjust it.
sure the team continues to rival the origional "choke city" team for thier nickname, but they are still doing very well. we are upset because we see that they could be doing even better. if we aren't caught up in what they could be doing and why they gave away 2 games (almost 3), then we would see our record and be happy it is what it is through such a horrid schedule to start the season.
Agree. We can play much better. The way we lsot the games were so upsetting, we've seen this before and it just sucks. We are supposed to be a veteran team but we're prone to committing ROOKIE mistakes. 60 percent winning percentage is acceptable though if we can hold on to this until the end of the season.
60% will only get you the fifth or sixth seed in the west. that means playing against the second best team in the southwest division or any one of Utah, Phoenix, San Antonio or Dallas. before the season began, would anyone have been satisfied with 5th or 6th best in the west?
we are upset , because our team cannot in bound the ball 3 times in a row, because our team cannot beat out a zone defense, because our team has no one step up at the clutch moment.
