I have been wondering for a while why there are not two NFL double headers on Sunday (on FOX and CBS). I know there is some contractual reason but does anyone know exacly why?

the NFL has a TV contract with CBS and FOX in which it states that the two networks must alternate who gets 2 games per week, so that the NFL doesn't have to compete with itself for 2 timeslots every sunday (just one)

The NFL TV coverage sucks. When you only get 5 games to watch a week on cable/network TV (not counting the NFL Ticket, which is only accesible via DirecTV), no wonder why no one cares about the NFL.

What I didn't understand is why Houston only got 2 games like 2 or 3 Sundays ago.

How come Texans air against the Cowboys. I thought the hometeam was suppose to be protected against other games? Say if the Texs are playing at noon, while the cowboys are playing at noon, wouldnt FOX be playing something else like Married with Children or some other stuff?

Not always. There are Texans games that aren't broadcast in Dallas. As a matter of fact, I only remember the first two games being broadcast in Dallas (and one of those was on ESPN and had Dallas in it).

By the way, Bull Riding was broadcast in Dallas on CBS instead of the Texans game yesterday.

For that matter, many Oilers games were not broadcast in Amarillo when I was growing up.

really? I remember reading through the NFL tv contract a few years ago and they said that all games within a certain radius of a city were shown for the duration of a season. oh well, i guess they changed it with the new contracts this year.

fwiw, down here in the RGV all the Cowboy and Texan games have been shown so far.

And yeah, I know it was World Series last night, but gimme a Sunday Night football game any week over that!

I would like some more info on this. It's rated higher than other sports who play games every day of the week, and whose seasons last 8 months (like basketball) I'm sure.

If there were only 16 baseball or NBA games a year, would their ratings be comparable? Is there any way to compute that? I'm sure the NBA would be last still.
