I recently downloaded the new IOS 6 for my iPhone 4. What a dissapointment. While everything seemed fine, I opened the new maps app and was furious. Where are the public transit directions? Of course, they got rid of that? Bike lanes? Nope, gone. What about sidewalks through parks and such? Nada. Goodbye transit, walking, and bike directions. It's absolutely ridiculous. I mean I know Apple and Google don't get along, but damn, really? What a step down. Could have at least kept the same maps. So now I have to download third party public transit apps that don't work well within the normal maps interface. Which really sucks since I live in Boston. Honestly I don't see myself getting the iPhone 5 with this travesty of a map app.

It's new and they're building it. Google is hoping to have their Maps available in the app store by Christmas.
I never understood why some people are so thirsty for the new hotness, especially when it come to electronics. I usually wait a couple months before purchasing or downloading anything so at least I know some of the bugs will be handled by then.
You can, but it's not integrated into the phone the same way and it's much slower. The best public transit app out there is Transit Times +, and I'll use that until Google releases the app.
http://theamazingios6maps.tumblr.com/ The TD Garden in Boston, Mass., is the home of the Boston Bruins and Celtics. It is only a “garden” in name only; much like its New York namesake, it’s an indoor stadium.
Don't try to fill gas in downtown... Downtown Houston’s newest filling stations on the skyline rooftops! (Those are corporate headquarters, not gas stations).
Article claiming Official Google Maps has already been submitted to Apple to go on the App Store....Apple has yet to approve. http://9to5mac.com/2012/09/20/googl...approval-it-is-solely-up-to-apple-to-approve/
Word is Steve Jobs has risen to rectify the situation. He cannot rest in peace without a properly working maps app that is at least as good as what was there before. Would Steve ever let this happen under his watch? Doubtful.
Among other things, along with requirement to use Itunes, the durability of the phone (or lack thereof)....
