Honestly, the last 5 PCs I've had have all been pure pieces of garbage. I don't know why I keep purchasing computers running Windows. It seems like every computer I've had over the past 10 years have all had major problems that can't really be fixed. My current computer developed problems about a year after I purchased it. It doesn't handle video (always choppy) very well and the fan runs hard as hell constantly. Why didn't I discover Macs before I purchased this piece of crap? Right now, I don't have money to buy a new laptop, or I'd be running to the store to buy a Macbook. What's so hard about making a computer that runs well and doesn't start to break down a few months after I buy it? It's not like I'm buying bargain basement computers for $399. I've had custom made computers, Sony Vaios, Gateways, Hewlett Packards, and they all have been terrible machines. /rant over
Maybe you have bad luck man. Ive had a VAIO too and it was great. Freakin Emachines have been awesome for me lately. Macs? Those commercials alone are enough to not buy those damn things.
no offense intended, but you have no idea what you are doing. If you build a machine with quality components and don't do anything stupid it will last for a long, long time. That said, Dell actually does make some good machines when you get into the workstation class. It's like most things in life, you get what you pay for. XP has been an excellent OS for me - no issues here other than the 2gb limit per application in regards to ram - and that is an issue common between pc's and macs until you get into 64bit operating systems. Cheers, Brock
There is a laptop on sale at woot.com right now on the woot off. I don't know if its good or not, but here is the description. 1 Compaq Presario V2718WM Notebook PC 1.8GHz Turion, 1GB Ram, 80GB HD, DL DVDRW, 14" LCD 529.99 + $5 shipping
Stop downloading warez and p*rn. lol. I don't know why people have problems with pc's either. I've built umpteen PC's in the past 10-15 years and probably had hardware fail on me 2-3 times (2 hard drives and I accidentally blew out a mobo which was my fault). I built a machine for my parents back in 1998 that just croaked due to a dead power supply - still running the original OS with updates and no updated hardware.
I don't know about PCs, but I'd love to boink the chick in the ad at the top of this page. Don't know if the rest of you see the same ad, but this babe in a bikini has been gracing the top of Hangout for weeks now!
SirCharlesFan ever thought you were the problem? buy a quality machine take maintain it and it shouldnt be a problem at all. like a car.
i stick to lenovo (IBM)...cost a little more, but they run forever...... just bought a T60 about 2 months back, oozing quality.
I have a machine that I have had for 5 years and it still runs as fast as the day I first bought it. You only have to do a few things. Install firewall software Install antivirus Install antispyware software and delete crap out of your systray
My Sony Vaio is over 6 years old and only has one problem: The DVD/CD-RW drive will not eject unless I hit the button 10 or 15 times, except when it has a DVD already in it. This is the best computer I've ever bought. The eMachines computer I used to have turned into garbage within 6 months and I'll never buy another one.
It sounds like you tend to purchase under-powered PCs (specifically without enough RAM) and that you tend to accumulate lots of spyware and probably trojan viruses as well. I tend to get about four or five years of very usable life out of my PCs and that's for gaming.
Hmmmm.. I don't know you sure it's not a ID10T error? but seriously I have no idea why you have such bad luck when I'm actually in a desktop support role and don't have much problem with our machines... 1. Stop d/l crap 2. Stay away from the registry 3. Stop trying to be a hacker 4. Your desktop is a desktop and not a laptop 5. Do your monthly maintenance 6. blah blah blah GL though on your next purchase but it sounds like you are wanting to buy a MAC anyways.
Oh I forgot once you get a new PC if your going to get another one d/l the following (All Free) 1. AVG Anti-Virus 2. Ad-aware 3. Spy-Bot 4. CCleaner 5. I'll have to get back to you but there is a couple more you should get...
