Is it because he made a mistake and got into with some fans years ago. He is clearly the second best player on the team. Nobody would average 16 points for part of the season coming off the bench, hell Mcgrady couldn't average 16 this year even though its' his knee. Yeah he gambles on defense but he hustles works his butt off and is consistently talking with younger players Brooks, Wafer, Landry, etc. He in my opinion is the most underapreciated Rocket and honestly because he is starting now I don't think we will miss Mcgrady as much as we think. He plays with more heart, better defense and almost as good of a scorer. So tell me why don't we support resigning Ron or admit he is doing good considering a injury and inconsistent starting or coming off the bench. Where is the Love?
http://bbs.clutchfans.net/poll.php?do=showresults&pollid=4903 He's getting plenty of love. If he continues to play well and we get out of the first round, he'll be deified.
Im not sure that Ron is under appreciated by most Rockets fans but the focus this week or so is on the trade and Aarons new role. I think the majority of Rockets fans are behind and support Ron.
people cite his defense as the main reason why they don't like him. "he gambles too much, his defense is overrated, etc etc". IMO, his defense is just as BAD as McGrady's (pre-, during, post- injury) if not better.
It's because many people are band wagon fans, his next off game, see how many negative threads go up against him.
His toughness has rub off the rest of the players and he will be resigned. Since being a starter the team's play has been great on the defensive end. I can't wait to see how much more the team will improve in the next 26 games.
You guys still don't know who the real Ron Artest is. He is playing in a contract year and is trying to stay out of trouble...
lol durvasa don't use big complicated words like deified, 90% of the posters here, they have no idea what you mean
Come on Hayesfan, even I didn't know the word and I still knew it was something like "To be loved" or "To look up to."
The dude is a force. He is the most physical player on the team and he beats up opposing 2 guards on both ends of the court. That really wears you down over the course of a game, and in the playoffs itll really wear you down over the course of a 7 game series. His defense is not overrated. He is very solid defensively mainly because of how strong he is. He may not be the quickest guy, but if he gets his body on you, youre not going anywhere. He has quick hands too and he gets alot of deflections and he alters alot of shots. His offense is gravy. I dont understand the Artest hate either. Maybe the expectations for him coming in were really high. I do know this. Without him right now, our offense would really stink. He has really come in handy with the whole mcgrady fiasco.
The only thing that I don't like about Artest is his shot selection at times although looking at his stats he just had a terrible Nov, when he shot 33% from the Field for a total of 16 games. His number for December - February have been much more bearable, he's been shooting close to 42% for Dec,Jan and this month he has been over 45%. As long as Artest averages his points on more than 42% shooting I'm happy, his energy on defense is incredible and I love when he flexes Anyone remember the last time he flexed?
This is what bugs me sometimes, the lack of understanding a point or reading comprehension. I have never hated Artest, I have always said he does not fit with Tracy...and since that was the case, he should be traded for a better fit. Well, once Tracy is removed from the equation, Artest is fine... I am happy as a lark right now. Just don't want people to get some misguided perception of my thinking on Artest, like they did about VSpan..... DD
