Because I can laugh at myself and not take myself seriously. One thing that this forum has taught me!

My vote goes to (no, I'm not going to vote for myself) Mango. I have heard through the grapevine that he was not popular for a long time before me, so I want him to keep his crown!:D

BGM: I appreciate the concern and your views, but come on man. Now people are going to tell me that I can't laugh at myself ! This is ridiculous! It's the off-season and I'm bored. Yes, I have talked about the "clique" before, but frankly I don't want any part of a group that is going to have this attitude.

I'll tell you and everyone else here something: what you see is what you get. I can be a character at times but I don't kiss people's a$$es. Maybe you are right that I'm trying too hard but trying too hard for what? To lighten the mood? Or to join the "exclusive, ultimate, super-secretive BBS clique" ?

Believe me you will know when I'm being serious and when I'm just trying to have a good time. Doing the latter is not trying to be in some "stuck-up" society. I don't know if you were joking or being serious, but if you were serious, then you gotta alot of nerve telling me that now I can't laugh at myself. What's next? That I can't go to the bathroom? If anybody else ever has any issues with my posts, just email me so we don't have to waste space here. I'm not that hard to find.

I think BGM means you are trying too hard to be the center of attention. You are acting like there should be no thread without you involved. Get a life, then report back. Do not make this place your life.

    Behad,
I never saw in the rules of signing up that any time somebody started a thread that they had to be careful of being the "center of attention". That's funny you would call it that--I call it being lighthearted. I have a life, thank you very much. If something pops in my head that I think people will like or enjoy, then I'm going to post it. I'm not going to sit there and say to myself, "I wonder what I can do to make Behad and Band Geek Mobster think that I'm trying to get into their clique?" Just because I post a lot doesn't mean I spend my whole life here . It's just that when I'm here, I have a lot to say. Are you going to tell Crispee to get a life or how about your buddy BGM? They average just a little under my average posts per day. What about that? Huh?

I like reading your posts because you always have good and interesting things to read, but your arrogance leaves something to be desired. Get over yourself.

Its funny, i post based on the same criteria as you do manny. if i think its interesting or think someone else will find it interesting i might just post what ever pops in my head. hell, i, much like most people on thios board occasionally post things just to see the reaction.

so since it popped into my head, i gotta say that for a supposedly fun loving guy you are awfully defensive. you reply to every comment anyone makes about your threads or posts. you make up a whole post to adress each commenting BBS member as wel;l instead of adressing everyone in one post.

a few other things.... since when did BBS have a mood, and how do you know when its time to lighten the mood???

When you first started being read by my eyes i thought that you were a decent poster. i liked that you were pretty well thought out. however you have since then degraded your posting style. come on man, watch some video, get your old form back the team needs you.

ok, heres the big one. just because there is in your minds eye nothing going on in rocketdom, dosnt mean that you should start creating activity. sure an occasional simpson joke, or something you recently learnd, but dont go making silly, post count threads that lead to flame wars. if you are truely bored... read a book, or go for a walk. meet some people in the real world. Hell, ask them if you are more annoying than their EX or if BGM is, or me, make your own little poll if you need to see colored bars. but dont be upset if someone flames you for being silly. especially since you, and i know you hate to hear it, are so new to this online community.

hope you get some news soon about moochie or something, because im getting tired of walking around town meeting people(actually i think i met them all)

    PEACE

    Pot; kettle.
    Kettle; pot.

This whole thing (and I mean that in an extremely broad sense) is so pathetic it's funny.

    Ok, Crisco, I will.

Let's put this in a real life setting. Since you are a fan of Boston, let's pretend you are in "Cheers". There's Clutch as Sam behind the bar, with Kagy as Woody. BGM is Cliff Claven because he knows something about everything. Behad will play the part of Norm, always with a smart ass comment but nothing meaningful to say.

Dr. of Dunk is Fraiser Crane, and Shanna will be his wife Lillith (sorry Shanna, but I thought you were a girl for a long time!). Carla is portrayed by gettinbranded...don't ask why, I just think he fits.

Now then Manny, you see the TV show. You see how all the characters interact to make it a place "where everybody knows your name". Let's place another character into the show...say, Bugs Bunny. You know that in his cartoon, Bugs was always getting into trouble, always harassing the bad guys like Yosemite Sam or Daffy Duck, and he always had the most lines in his cartoons. And it worked for that TV show bacause he was an established star.

That's you Manny. You're Bugs Bunny trying to fit into "Cheers" by getting involved in all the other characters and storylines. If Bugs would sit at the bar and throw out comments instead of trying to interact with all the other characters, he would be more accepted.

For what is worth, Manny, I think you are a fine poster, and I welcome you. But as long as you keep calling me out, I'll keep answering you.

Manny, you remind me a lot of myself when I was first started and was totally raw to this bbs. In fact, here is my very first post last year:
    http://bbs.clutchcity.net/ubb/Forum7/HTML/002217.html

As you can see, I wore my emotions strong and hated this "supposed" establishment or clique or whatever. It didn't help a lot of liberals gang-attacked some things I posted. This occured early on several times. For example, I'd post something about guns and no one would respond, and it would piss me off a little....This all changed with time as I realized it just depends on whether you get a response. For example, I typed a carefully thought out-written post and thought it would get 100 nice replies and it got none. Then I posted what I thought was a crap post and it got 100 nice replies...so go figure. I also realized their were more repubs than I thought...and no establishment really exists after all - sure there are the swirvy dudes and others who band together and others who talk about other people behind their back in chat but it's all cool...An amazing thing happened along the way...maybe it was my better posting, imagination or whatever, but I seemed to get better interaction with a lot of folks who were being jacks before...maybe my sense of humor is better. Perhaps I've used psychology to toy with some but honestly I think this bbs is better for those you disagree with. Hell ZRB is cool with me now...and Achebe and Rocketman 95 like me more and have me on their favorite lists....well not really.
The point is I hope you put aside negative responses by others and deal with them in the right way because you are a fine poster and it is not worth it to get upset.

Damn, Roxran, I recognize the path you trod as one I'm mired in right now. I hope my enthusiasm survives.

This place has funny dynamics. Not everyone here is anonymous, yet some of us are. There is an old guard. There are set ways. It's very easy to come along and ruffle some feathers and/or overturn some applecarts, you know. It would seem to me that minds are not as open as they might wish to pretend they were. There is an informal ownership mindset floating around out there.

Didn't PinetreeFM1960 get run for disrespecting his elders about basketball matters and their credentials? Weird. Did I miss something?

Oh yeah, I remember PinetreeFM60 and how he ruffled Doc Rocket. Probably the most articulate and intelligent troll we had, but just went too far. I was actually sad to see him go, he could have been a valued member of this BBS.

Also, does anyone remember tod the bod's initial posts, when he blasted Rudy T? Everyone got on the guy, including Clutch. A few short months later he made a complete 180 (or as Kidd would say, 360) and was a popular poster who to this day is one of Clutch's favs. Too bad his posts are as infrequent as a Mo Taylor rebound.

Aren't you the trivia master Behad?

    That's what I thought...
