I've decided to stay away from the GARM until the Rockets start winning again...it's pretty insane in there. At any rate, this *should* be a breath of fresh air: who is your favorite non-Rocket team and who is your favorite non-Rocket player? And this doesn't have to be all-time, it can be just for this season as well (which opens the floodgates for *gasp* Utah fans). For me, it'd have to be the Raptors (post Rose trade) because VC is back and surrounded with talent like Jalen Rose, Donyell Marshall, and Bosh. With stalwarts like MoPete and Alvin Williams struggling, it's good to see that the Raps could conceivably take the East (although, to be fair, even the Magic could still take the East). As for player: The year has been full of pleasant surprises in terms of player production: Baron Davis, Jalen Rose, Mike James, LeBron, Sam Cassell, etc. Still, I have to go with the one person I actually told my friends would be a great one: AK-47. I know there's already a thread on him in the NBA Dish somewhere, so if you want to know WHY, just go look at that. There're my picks; what're yours? (DAMN, that sounded like a Cynthia Cooper transition...)
I'd go with Paul Piece and Dirk Nowitski. Pierce, because I lived in Boston for 4 years... and the effort that guy puts forth every night is phenomenal. And he'll play D as well as take shots. And he's a lot more judicioius about his shooting than a lot of superstars. He takes a lot of shots, but it's because the Celtics don't have anyone else. When he played with Walker, he was more generous with Walker than the other way around... despite being the more capable player. Also, Pierce makes the players around him better. He doesn't rack up a ton of assists, but the way D's have to guard against him means that guys like McCarty get a ton of shots. Nowitski because he's the most fun player to watch on the most fun team to watch in the NBA. He can shoot 3's, post up, drive... whatever. And he does it all making it look easy. I still think that if Dirk played D he'd be the best player in basketball (including Shaq).
favorite non-Rocket team may be Cleveland. I just want to be on the bandwagon early when all of that talent comes together. Its hard right now to watch them play but I just can't see them losing for long. Favorite non-Rocket player is Vince Carter. How can you not like watching a high-light, and the guy plays under control does everything on the court he needs to, and has a good attitude. And I especially want him to stick it to the back-stabbing sports media who gave up on this guy when he was injured and tore him down after realizing he wasn't Jordan, only because they were so disappointed with him not turning out to be the player they expected. I hope he makes it to the NBA Finals this year, and I would love to see what the talking heads would have to say.
favorite players to watch: dirk, peja, zach randolph, KG they're shooting is like almost automatic. i love watching them shoot. it's like 'yea that one's going in...and it did'. rockets need some of those players
AK47 and Ginobili are my up and coming favorite players. i may even commit heresay and get a ginobili jersey but i dont think i could bring myself to wear a jazz jersey because 1. they are the jazz and 2. they are ugly. the 47 is tight though. garnett is great to watch, especially this year, he plays with more desire. Iverson is always great to watch, jwill in the old days. The Kings are a work of art to watch, i am extremely impressed with how well they communicate. The new lakers are also fun when they are just fooling around blowing a team out.
i gotta go with paul pierce. my favorite non rocket team is sac because they know how to pass and play team ball unlike the rockets.
My favorite player in the league and the best player individual talent in the world - KG. In my opinion, he is currently in his prime and is better than both Duncan and Shaq. He just needs to lead his team to something this year. My favorite other team?? Who knows. I'm starting to jump on the Denver bandwagon, though. I really like Nene and Earl Boykins.
For a millisecond, I contemplated becoming a Jazz fan during that Rockets/Timberwolves game... :::shudder:::
Top 3 are probably Jermaine O'neal, Zach Randolph, and Baron. It's funny...when you're in a fantasy league and you have players that you follow every night, you sorta automatically become pretty big fans of them just cause you get so used to rooting for them to have a good game every night, even if you never liked them much before....at least thats whats happened with me. -Nick-
Team: Hornets.....B.Davis and company are usually fun to watch. Player: Rasheed Wallace. If he was on the right team, he'd average 20/10 every night. Cod
Well you either love him or hate him, right? Mostly because of the Rox game last night, I'm leaning toward saying KG and the Wolves. I've always rooted for them because they're a small market team. And, KG gave a little reminder last night of just how great a player he is. How he keeps going down in the first round, I don't know.
Favourite non Rocket player is Jermaine O'Neal. Favourite team besides the Rockets hmmm I can't choose another favourite team... But I like watching Sacto and Indiana...
Fav non-Rox: Ray Allen, KG Ray Allen has an amazing competitive drive and yet he keeps a first-class attitude. KG is the MAN. He has the talent, the ambition and the work ethic to be one of the greatest EVER. And I'll say it again: one of the GREATEST EVER. Favorite non-Rox team to watch: Kings b/c their playing style, Lakers because they have 4 hall of famers on the court. ridiculous.
I'll eliminate Raptors as well, as they're my other team...and guys like Cassell who made their impression on me while on my team... Garnett is probably first. The talent is exceptional, but what seperates him is the engine...he's a Jerry Rice in shorts. After KG, I love Pierce ( but I'm a Jayhawk fan, so biased), Ray Allen, Marion, Nash, a few others. I respect the hell out of guys like Brand, Duncan, and Peja, although I'm not really a fan. And this year there are several rookies who I already love to watch, most notably ( aside from Bosh) Wade, Anthony, and Hinrich. But the guy who sticks out to me, as far as admiring him, and being captivated when I watch him play is Iverson. Now I used to just hate him, and still don't really think of him as my kind of player, and as a person he's a bit of an idiot...but watching him play, like Garnett, well...you get your money's worth every night. On the court he competes as hard as anyone I've ever seen, although not as smart. The fact that I used to have no respect for him, and now have amazing respect speaks a lot for how much he's impressed me over time. He's exciting, tough, and incredibly competitive. I love Garnett more but the Answer's come from much farther back to earn my respect.
You gotta bring back Chris Jent. I mean, that dude was unstopabble in '94. Anyway, in all seriousness, I think I don't have one.
