Both are worthless. Vecesy is just a $hit stirer and Brown thinks he is a comedian. I happen to think Dr. Jack Ramsey is pretty worthless as well with his commentaries.

On ESPN I like Bucher, Aldridge and Stein. They are pretty good.

Brown....comedian? His article is just boring. I thought he must have been a high school math teacher before.

I don't really "dislike" any particular columnists, but I usually enjoy Aldridge, Stein and Devaney.

    For the Rockets:

Fran Blinebury - You can actually smell the crap coming off of his articles both in terms of rampant negativity and bad metaphors (note: yes, I realize that technically "smell the crap" is a metaphor, but unlike Blinebury, I won't stretch that one metaphor to fill the entire content of an editorial).

    In general:

Michael Ventre of MSNBC. He's basically Fran Blinebury as a Lakers' cheerleader.

He doesn't just do basketball, but I detest Dan Le Batard.

Blinebury did call the Rockets first championship though..he said Rockets over Knicks in 7 in the Chronicle's pre-season special that year.

I don't love Fran...I've met him in person a couple of times. But I think he's despised here because he tells the truth. He doesn't coax egos that are way oversized.

I used to dislike Fran, until I moved up to NYC and started reading Peter Vescy's stuff. Vescey made Fran look like an affable, good natured, journalistic genius.

although I don't really consider his sophomoric rants and attempts to stir interest into a pathetic sight true journalism. For the sake of argument, I would say the rocket guy off of hoopsworld is the worst columnist I have ever read.

Dick Vitale: "My gut feeling tells me the Rockets are making a mistake, baby, in evaluating their overall No. 1 pick. Still, Rudy T could shock America by having NBA commissioner David Stern announce Williams' name as the top pick. Then Houston would be moving toward the winner's circle."

Randy Brickley: "...Inside of three or four years, (Yao will) probably be history."

Vecsey used to be the best -- but has 'aged' very poorly. Charley Rosen is a great basketball mind, good writer with such a flawed agenda his best basketball gig is trying to be a journalist. He's failing at that, too.

    Mitch Lawrence is terrible.

Dadgum, who is actually good? Like insightful, prescient...

Just to clarify, I don't always disagree with Fran's opinions (sometimes he states the obvious). What I don't like is how he writes like an untalented freshman in a Creative Writing 101 course. His metaphors are mostly lame and overused and his "wit" is non-existent.

How can anybody respect the writing style of the man that came up with "the great Dreambino". Also, didn't he coin the phrase "choke city"?

Kenny Smith, resolve? Which Kenny Smith are you referring to? The nadless wonder with two Rings? Because that one had no resolve. He had everything in reserve because he rarely used it! Rarely, not never (Game 1, Orlando/the Laker game he came off the end of the bench to sink dozens of 3s and help the Rox catch up with then defeat the Lakers).
