Article on ESPN Insider: NBA Scouting Report Scoring Point Guard Steve Francis It was unanimous. Currently averaging 30 a night with career numbers approaching 20. You've seen the dunks but recognize that he's never averaged fewer than 6.5 assists per game (and almost as many boards) in a season and still drills 1.4 three-pointers a game. Scout's Quote: "Hands down. Iverson is the only comparison and he gets to play shooting guard." Runner-ups: Stephon Marbury, Sam Cassell.
One should look at the big picture and be factual about it! SF. 17th. in assists and not in top 50 for steals.
Indy and Seattle are #1 in their respective divisions. We played Indy with only 9 players and Eddie was our only real front court player. Seattle was the only team that whooped us and they only did it for one quarter. The third when we double Payton for no reason and left their 3 pt shooters open. When we put Hawk on Payton man to man we came back and almost had a chance to win in the fourth. I'm not saying the Rocks are perfect but there is plenty of reason to be optimistic especially with everyone healthy.
Well if Francis can score 30 points shooting 50% on Payton who is one of the best defenders shouldnt that say something?
I'm just glad we're above .500. Right now, Steve is averaging 30 points a game. Soon, other teams will have to send mroe and more defense in Steve's direction, and our other players will start to take over. I really feel Steve is beginning to UNDERSTAND the game, and is slowly mastering the score-first PG role. They say teams who have a score first PG, that are built around a backcourt, never win. Well, there's a first time for everything. Right now, everyone in the league, every analyst, everyone is mentioning Steve in the same breath as McGrady, Vince, and Pierce. This is how I KNOW that you guys complain aimlessly abou Steve.
Good point. I can't believe I overlooked that. I think it's because I didn't see much of that game. Did Payton guard him much though?
GOOD POST..One thing you DONT hear around the league is that the Rockets have a weakness at point guard....Everyone knows if he improves his assist totals ,,Look out...
I've seen people who thinks we are going to the finals after beating the Warriors just because SF scores 30 at 50%. The day we're in the finals is the day the team leaders make their teammates better. Not because some ppl being a dominant street baller. Talking about premature ejaculation.
Who is talking about Finals??? Talk about exageration. What does it mean to make your teammates better? It means making people respect your shot and commanding an double team so your teammates get open looks. He is taking what his opponents are giving him. He seldomly seen him force anything this year except for in the first game. Francis is building his reputation now. He is making realize that if teams don't double, he will score on you. And when they do, he will hopefully pass to the open man, but the threat has to be established first. Everyone loves to ride Kidd's jock. Kidd wasn't anything until he learned how to shoot. He didn't do anything for 7 years and he finally gets on a team where they have a 1st draft pick coming back from injury and everybody talks about how he makes his teammates better. Maybe, his teammates are better because they were getting better to start out with. Then people compare Francis to Andre Miller. Hello, the clippers still suck, and the game they played well in, Miller scored 29 points.
Im sure youve seen people who know about the Warriors, the finals and other things. But, street ballers tookover the NBA years ago...Steve is already a Nba all-star point guard, but is still a work in progress. KEEP YOUR PANTS ON..Steves team play will improve.....
Panda everyone who has seen one of your post know's that your a Steve Hater. Your just mad that Yao isn't getting this much pub, face the fact's Steve is the man.
My fellow rox fans, Read the ESPN report again... best 'SCORING point guard'. The best Overall PG in the league is still Gary Payton, HANDS DOWN. Let's be realistic here. Payton is the best and then he is followed by, not Francis, but Kidd. Francis is behind these two players as the best OVERALL point guard in the league. Francis WILL be the best overall point guard soon, but right now he is only the best scoring point guard. For a very good read about this.... Chronicle Francis/Payton article Can I get a WITNESS?!?
OK then, show me the thread where these "people you've seen" have talked about going to the Finals. I am one of the optimists here and think we'll do pretty well this season, but even I haven't gone as far as to mention the Finals. Playoffs, yes. Oh, BTW, stop sucking on that lemon. It might stop you being so bitter....
