The Cat has to get my vote. When he's at the top of his game, no one else is better at one on one competition.

You may be right. I always here he can get past anyone, or at least get the first step. Of course he doesn't dominate because of the team. But if at 1on1, he may do pretty good, especially with his improved shooting.

I think Francis, T-Mac and Shaq going 1on1 against a player at their position could do well also. (although Shaq just uses his "power.")

    Before it's Jordan.
    Now it's Shaq.

I can't give it to Shaq (or any big man really). One on one is a game of offense and defense, and Shaq couldn't guard any of the guards straight up. Obviously, they couldn't guard him, but I like to look for a more versatile player to give this to.

T-Mac is a definite candidate (inside-outside game, good quickness, good size, nice defender). KG maybe (ability to guard quicker and bigger players, tall, good rebounder). A fit and healthy Grant Hill would be decent too.

Got to give it to T-Mac at the moment, I think.

I don't think Shaq could go against guards either. I think this maybe like C'sVSC's, PF'svsPF's,SF'svsSF's,GuardsvsGuards. Then again, maybe not.

Oh, OK. So it's like "Who's the most dominant player against single coverage?"

Shaq, Shaq, Shaq. Physically, there's no competition, and the big guy does have skills.

I was just enjoying an image of 1-on-1, first to 21, make and take it.

    Then it's McGrady. Maybe.

I think Cat is just about as good as anyone 1-on-1 as far as offense goes. Kobe can't even guard Cat 1-on-1. But, taking defense into consideration, the best 1-on-1 player is probably Kobe, with T-mac and Paul Pierce a close second. AI couldn't play defense against those guys, so he couldn't hang with them.

The way I see it, position doesn't matter when it comes to Shaq going one on one. Let Kobes and Mobleys shoot from outside all they want, all Shaq needs to do is to stand below the basket and dare them shoot. When it's Shaq's turn he'll just march in and dunk the ball, ain't nobody can deny him the hole up there. It's a no loss situation so Shaq is the best one on one player.

TMac. Paul Pierce rising. Kobe a bit behind. Shaq can't bring the ball in, silly people. He'd get the ball stolen every time.

    Vince Carter

Rudy said no one could stop him, one on one, during the Olympics

Carter and Mcgrady would be a great matchup

No one can hold Iverson one on one and I think if Shaq played a guard, he would still win. All he has to do is play smart on O, sheilding the player away from the ball which he can do easily with his huge body and on D he can give up space and still be able to block shots because of his size.

    I agree.

You can't put Shaq into this argument. It should be Guards vs. Guards, Forwards vs. Forwards. That is ridiculous to put Shaq up against guards.

    Overall: Carter

    Guards
    1.Carter
    2.Kobe
    3.McGrady
    4.Francis
    5.Iverson
    6.Cat
    7.BDavis
    8.Pierce

    Iverson.

Heck, no two players can cover him. He goes where ever he wants with the ball.

I'm not really considering PF's and C's b/c they rarely face up and go one-on-one during games. That being said, I gotta go w/ Kobe. Even though I hate him, I gotta give him his due. The quickness, the post moves, the outside game AND the D. He has the total package no one can touch w/ the exception of McGrady but he doesn't have that MJ "I'll kill you if you beat me" attitude Kobe stole from Mike.
