WHO's THAT MAN WITH THE FRO-YO BEHIND THE BENCH?

I'm hoping others have noticed this, that the last two games Leon Smith has been sitting directly behind the Rockets bench. I doubt that Leon's actually buying those tickets too. It's probably the Rocks on advice of Moses.

So basically the kid has witnessed some of the most uplifting views of the Rockets future. (last 2 games)

Ohh yes and he has been working out at Westside Tennis Club.

Ohh, and in a FoxSports article he said he is ready to play. (although he will never get to this year)

So in the end as I originally predicted the Rockets are supremely positioned to pick this kid up... the only question now is when.

My prediction is that he will start the season with some kind of contract for the Rockets. I don't think that's terribly bold at this point. What do you think?

I think I'd like to see it happen. I think the Rockets would give him more help than the Mavs did and he's supposed to be a great young player. I'd like to see it happen both so the Rockets get a good player cheap and also to see Leon Smith's life put back in proper order. But, putting his life back in order is going to be a lot harder, I think than giving him another crack at the NBA. The Rockets don't like trouble-makers and, whether Smith wants to be or not, he is a trouble-maker. I'm sure Lucas, wherever he may now be, is campaigning to get the kid.

Despite our recent failure with a rebuilding project, I think I would take a chance on Smith. With Moses and Hakeem (hopefully) next year watching over this guy, he will learn the game and mature at the same time. I wish I could have seen the interview myself, but from what I've read of the interview and of those who did watch it, this guy is ready to attempt his career with maturity.

Basically, I wouldn't let him out of any Rockets' sights next year if we did it. If the Mavericks would have done a little research and done the same, he would probably be about halfway through his rookie year, and on to rebuilding his life while playing basketball.

P.S. Juan, I guess you didn't watch the game last night! [IMG] Lucas is an assistant for the Nuggets. He is also the all time career assists average leader for the Rockets.

So what exactly is the deal with this kid? Also what position does he play?

The clock is winding down, and Scottie has the ball, Cato is sprinting towards him, Pippen shoots and here comes Cato. Man did you see that block?!!! Ouch it hit Scottie right between the legs. ITS FINAL!! THE ROCKETS ARE HEADING TO THE FINALS TO FACE THE INDIANA PACERS!!! Now lets see the replay of Scottie getting hit in the jewels, shall we?

He was the guy with the 'fro, sitting by Tina? Man, I talked to him for a minute last night - didn't say anything about being Leon Smith! I've never actually met Leon - and the only time I saw him was when he was balder than Michael Jordan. Very, very strange....

    Jenna,

Would it help if he wore his war paint to the game so you could recognize him?

    Couldn't resist.

    Mango....

I'm sorry, but I cannot remember the faces of every player, coach, GM, PR person, VP of something or other, etc, in the NBA's 50+ year history. I try to remember as many as I can, plus the ABA on top of that, but I just can't remember them all. Especially not someone that was in the league for a few days and then lost his mind....

I know you were probably joking, but I don't really care. We seem to get on each other's nerves, so let's just call a truse, okay?

Now, it's time to watch the Heat/Hawks game, then the Heat fly into Houston tomorrow morning. I'll be out a while, so I hope this place doesn't lose all control without me. :)

No prob Jenna, I think it pretty much loses control when you arrive. [IMG]

And the crack about war paint was a jab at Leon's rampage... I doubt it was directed at you.

    Go Karl!!! Please.... GO! [IMG]

    Jenna,

    It is a joke.
It was a takeoff on your post in another thread about Leon, warpaint and C Columbus.

    Get on your nerves?
I try to be one of the more factual straight-shooters on this BBS.
Please cite the post were I was factually wrong or was out of line.

I went and reread a recent thread to make sure that I was objective and doumented everything I said.
I recognized your dilemma in not responding further in that lengthy thread.

    Cheers,
    Mango
