We know the Rox are not going to resign Walt. Rice is still a major ?. We also will have KT, MT, EG, and TM next year. Who will start as the power foward. Will Rudy start two PFs. I'm assuming they will pick Ming if China agrees to letting him play full seasons here. There haven't been and won't be many centers come inthe draft with the chance of being really good. Even if he only lives up to half of he hype, it will be better than what Cato brings. So by drafting Ming they have their center along with Francis and Cat(pg & sg). I think they should make a trade to get a starting sf and play Rice off the bench. If a trade isn't possible then start Ming, Taylor, Griffin, Cat, and Francis. This leaves Mochiee, KT, Cato, and Rice as your main bench players. What do you think?
Taylor, Thomas, And Griffin are all fours. that only leaves us Rice and Tmo. I like Terrance and I am willing to find out if Rice is healed enough to become an older version of a once good player. But yea, there are question marks on both. I think that is why the Rockets were looking at drafting a three then a five back when they thought they had the fifth and 15th picks. We simply need a three more than the five. There is a lot to complain about with Cato, but I think we can generally agree he has improved to medicore - perhaps even average. His biggest problem is the contract. If we got the same production for $2,000,000 we would be raving about his unlimited upside potential. For me , Cato as part of a two-headed center works. A bit pricy, but on the court wise is ok. Especially if the second head is a young guy being given a coupel of year to develope. Perhaps the second head is a committe of our pwoer forwards. Maybe a three-headed approach, Cato, rookie, committee, would get us through the growth period. By the way, I am anti Ming. I would rather get Butler or Dunlavy and fill our biggest gap. Perhaps we take Wilcox who I think will be a player and he becomes the project center.
I'm not sure how quickly MoT will rehab. It is reported that he is grossly overweight. Mo doesn't have the work ethic of KT but KT could also be involved in a trade to move up from #15. Otherwise, I actually look for KT to be the PF at the start of the season. At one point, I was really impresssed with Lee Nailon but he did not play well in the playoffs. I am sure he would be interested in the Rockets MCE and the opportunity to get major SF minutes with the likes of Steve, Cat, EG, and Ming.
with out any trades i think that rice will start and kt will be a backup. i see kt becoming an anthony mason/larry johnson (in the fact that he will be a big sf that likes to post up smaller sf's)
