Personally, I can't stand the mavs because I went to UT Austin and had a bunch of friends who would talk trash about how great the Mavs were. I argument to them was that since this is arguably the Mavs' best team, and they can't win the championship with this team, they're not that great. The Rockets won their championship at their best. Damn, I hate the Mavs.

I think I'd have to go with the Spurs. I just don't view Dallas as being worth the trouble, for some reason.

Although I hated Derek Harper when he played for them.

Don't hate either one - why would I? I love the Texas teams. I love a good win over a good Texas team. But when it comes to HATE - It's gotta be the KNICKS hands down. Then all your basic Thug teams - like the Trailgangstas, etc.

I personally dislike the Spurs more. This is because I went to college at Trinity University during the early/mid 90's and got Spurs crammed down my throat. The myopia that exsists in San Antonio is mindblowing!

Man i like all the Texan teams... I dont hate any of them... I mean if there is going to be a champion i just wanted to be a texas team... I mean of course i prefer the rockets to win, but as long as texas keeps its pride... Texas is going to be one tough place to go through... players are going to be having nightmares

I hate the Mavs more because I hate Mark Cuban, Steve Nash, and Dirk Nowitski. They piss me off. The spurs dont really have any players I dislike, but I still dont like them when they kick our ass. Being a Texas team dont mean squat to me. I was rooting for the 76ers all the way in the finals cause I wanted the Rockets to be the only Texas team with 2 titles.

I really can't stand the Mavs. I appreciate Cuban's willingness to do whatever it takes to put together a winning team, but I can't stand him. His cockiness, despite having won nothing so far, also seems to cast a shadow over the entire team. Maybe it's just perecption, but I think of the Mavs as a cocky team.

I really like Tim Duncan, so it's hard to hate the Spurs. I pull for the Spurs unless they're playing the Rockets -- then I hate them. :)

Being an outsider (New Yorker) I used to like both teams A LITTLE BUT................

When I went to SA once, I ACTUALLY heard on the radio, disc jockey's talking trash about Houston. Things must be REALLY slow in town for this to be your ONLY TOPIC!

But anyways......when I mentioned I was a visitor form Houston, all I heard form there was, Spur this, Spur that, Robinson this, Duncan that etc.......they really love there team there but it got to a point were it became just annoying. "I mean, I'm not even that big of a Rockets fan. I'm a Knicks and Nets fan," I pleaded. Boy, that was an even BIGGER MISTAKE. When they heard "Knicks" they brought up the 99' Finals INSTANTLY, which REALLY pissed me off. Glad I havent gone there since te Nets lost the finals to you know who. I might have lost my mind with these people.

.......And on a recent trip to Dallas, people thought I was trash and looked down upon me when they found out I was from Houston. Why? First off, I only live and make my money in Houston, I'm a New Yorker at heart all the way. But the looks and stares I got that day bothered me. Its like I was a lower class or something. I mean, why is that such a big deal?

I live in Houston, Whoopdy ****in do!

Dallasite replies "He's from Houston, stay away, he's the Devil!"

WTF happened to southern hospitality around here?

Cant we all live happy in the same damn state?

Can someone bother explaining to me what's going on here? I'm just learning how things work around these parts in Texas.

I thought Texas Pride was a big deal around here............but to me, it looks like everyone is at each other's throats. What gives?

I really can't hate the Spurs or Dallas. I have lived feeling sorry for the Mavs. They have sucked for soooooo long( the Cowboys on the other hand..... ). Every time we have met SA when it mattered.....we have destroyed them. I hate the Jazz and the Sonics. They are the only teams that have hurt me when it counted(and we honestly hurt the Jazz just as much as they hurt us in past years). I guess that I can enjoy the fact that the two teams I hate didn't win a championship when they were dominant. Both rebuilding now:D . Don't try to tell me that Seattle is ever going to win with that nucleus(sp?)

    Tigereye,

Are you a Mets fan or a Yanks fan? And, how do you feel about the Nets?

Mets all the way..........gotta rep my hood Queens.

As for the Nets..........I'll root for them cause the Knicks suck.

Why do you ask..........What does this have to do with Texas Pride.........or lack there of, shall I say.

Because I've met some new yorkers that are fans of one team and hate the other even though they are both in new york.

I like the Mavs cuz they kind of remind me of the championship Rockets teams. Strictly in aesthetic terms I mean. You know - sort of a rag tag group of guys that everyone underestimates.

Noone understimated Hakeem - but the rest of the lineup was just a bunch of roleplayers that clicked. They were tremendously underestimated as a group.

That's sort of how the Mavs are - they got their stars - but most NBA critics don't consider them real contenders for the championship. I think they may break through and surprise everyone one of these years just like our Rockets teams did.

Cuz they got that one most important thing that carried the 94/95 Rockets - CHEMISTRY.

You see, to us New Yorkers............its not NY Yankees vs. NY Mets..............ITS BRONX VS. QUEENS!

Its territorial rights. Its reppin your hood, defendin your turf kinda thing. But to me, the rivalry in Baseball is not as good as it is in Hockey, where you have three teams in the Metro Tri-State area that carve up the landscape, Blue Shirts, Isles, and Devs. Come playoff time, if want an example of a real modern day civil war, attend a series featuring these teams. Now that's fun to watch.

And as for me..........its Blue Shirts all the way!!!!!!!!
