What if the Rox's starting lineup looks this way next season? C Cato PF Martin SF Lewis SG Anderson PG Francis And then we have Dream, Mobes, KT, Moochie, and Carlos off the bench. That looks like a kick a$$ team, doesn't it? ------------------
Very, very kickass. I just love that lineup. But someone would have to be missing, if we are trading for the top pick and doing a sign-and-trade for Lewis. ------------------
Actually, the Rockets still have the opportunity to get the first pick (Martin) even though that seems less and less likely by the win. Secondly, since Lewis doesn't qualify for Bird rights if he leaves Seattle we could just sign him outright. This probably will not happen, but CD is one of the better GMs in the business so who knows? ------------------
UTBALLER I think Seattle can match any offer. The same would apply to Mobley. ------------------ Moochie hear no evil Moochie speak no evil Moochie see no evil
I MIGHT do that trade IF there was an understanding that the contract would be for 1-3 years and he would be compensated at the maximum allowable salary once we had his bird rights. If at that point, for whatever reason, he wanted to leave, he would have his fate in his own hands. The point is I am tired of the Rockets signing UNPROVEN players to large, multi-year contracts only to have said player perform below expectations. I just don't want the Rockets to jump the gun on this one. ------------------ The lottery sucks!
We need Olajuwon to go ahead and retire. Get a big man through the draft Fizer looks good or Mihm if he would toughen up. And hope to get some more forwards to help completment Fizer and clean up the boards. We could really use Kenyon Martin (slim chance). ------------------
Joe Joe, we've been over the situation with Mobley quite a bit. We cannot match any offer. I'll spare you the details, but the best we can offer him is an early-bird contract for $2.5 million. I'm sure Seattle is in the same boat with Lewis (unless they are under the cap, which I doubt). Of course this means they can offer him more money than we can, but if Chicago wanted to steal either (or both), they could pony up more cash than either the Rockets or Seattle. ------------------
