Some friends had extra tickets, so now I'm in. I imagine that place will be fairly empty, so we'll weasel our way into premimum seats. I like Houston because of the home town aspect and I genuinely like Evans and Kolb, but I've been a Miami fan since I was 8, and this will be my first time seeing them (I'm 24 now). I'm pretty excited.
I feel like any stadium Miami plays in will not be fairly empty, precisely because of people like you. (i.e. Miami fans around the country- wasn't meant in a snide way) I'm interested to see how full it is. Now, as a non-Miami fan: link to article This was the classy team that you became a fan of as an 8-year old?
This could be an exciting game! When the Canes get 50 ot 60 points up the crowd will be screaming for them to hang the hundred.
Yeah your right, the hometown Cougar crowd will be screaming for Miami to score 100. Btw, as far as attendace goes, there is supposed to be between 35k and 40k according to my work (the UH athletic dept). So it definitley wont be full, but it should be decent.
How many people does the UH stadium hold? I live in Jonesboro, AR and Arkansas State is located here and they just sold out their first ever home game this past Saturday when the played the University of Memphis. Here is a pic: http://www.jonesborosun.com/gallery/posterad.jpg I hope the UH stadium looks better than that piece of crap! Go Memphis Tigers!!!
Roberston Stadium holds 33,000 with a planned expansion sometime in the near future. If the team or the crowd size calls for a stadium larger than 33k, UH will move it to Reliant. Thats what they did for Miami tomorrow and what will probably happen for their home game with Nebraska next year.
http://www.houstoncougarswest.com/images/Cougar_Football/Robertson_Stadium.htm There you go Lil Pun, they have 10 or so pics of Robertson Stadium. Its not the biggest stadium I've ever seen, but it is a great place to watch a football game. I will be at tomorrows game as well. Earlier this week the Athletic Department released a few thousand more student tickets because the demand was so high and I just heard those are gone now. Sounds like there will be a ton of students at the Miami game.
While I support every Houston-based team even though I don't live there anymore, I won't support teams that suck. Soooo... OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO C-A-N-E-S CANES!!!!!!! I would've tried to head over to Houston to support my college, but that's kind of difficult with papers and stuff. And I've found that even though Miami football is a top 5 football team, virtually no one supports them at all times; they're very fair-weathered here.
If going to a bowl game the first year of a new head coach with a team comprised mainly of freshman and sophomores sucks, then your right, we do suck. Not to mention Sophomore QB Kevin Kolb, who was the National Freshman of the year last year, yeah he really sucks.
Dude - I am so sorry for you that your first game in person as a Miami fan is to watch Brock Berlin in action. Seriously, I am hoping that Berlin does a Frank Costa (who was very sucky in his first year of starting in '93 but had a solid year in '94). This is a game in which Berlin has to get comfortable and work out the kinks that show up when he plays big-time teams. I still remember when Miami played Houston in 1991, I believe on a Thursday night. That was back when Houston had John Jenkins and I think Klingler and they were hanging 60 on about everybody except my Canes who beat them, I think, 40-10. And Jebus, it is not surprising that you would bring up things that happened over 13 years ago. Just another example of the Miami "hate" that is so rampant. But that is okay, I think it has been said that to be hated you have to be good. It just bothers me that people still think that the Canes still have that image. Jimmy Johnson and Dennis Erickson (he, especially) fed off being the rebels. Butch Davis and Larry Coker have worked very hard to clean up Miami's act, and with the lone exception of accepting Willie Williams (which I do not agree with Coach Coker but understand his position), I think it has worked.
yeah that loss to the Caines just brought us down big time. we were number 1 at one point if i am not mistaken or pretty high up there and after that lost to Miami we went down hill. Those were the good old days.
Yes I have, I remember seeing Reliant for the first time in person and was amazed at how large it is compared to the Astrodome. What are they doing with the Astrodome these days, what are the plans?
