I haven't done one of these in awhile, and thought I'd compare two of the elite shooting guards in the game. Michael Finley or Ray Allen? In my opinion, Allen is probably the more dangerous shooter, and a slightly better ball-handler, while Finley is stronger and a more well-rounded player (he can play two positions, better defense). Finley has a slightly better supporting cast in that there's more depth on the Mavs, but they are in similar situations. Which brings me to my next question for all you b-ball buffs; which Big 3 would you rather have: Nash-Finley-Nowitzki or Cassell-Allen-Robinson. Two years, even one year ago, it would be no doubt that the Bucs trio would be the one, but right now in terms of the total package they bring, I would go with the former. I would also have to go with the dallas trio. Milwaukee is better at the point, I would say the two teams are fairly even at the two and the mavs have a slight advantage with nowitzki because of his size and overall skills. ------------------
I would take Finley over Allen in a heartbeat. As far as the trios are concerned, I too will have to go with Dallas. Nowitzki is SUCH a talent it's hard to believe he's only been in the NBA a short time. Finley is ridiculous, and Steve Nash is a GREAT fit for that team. ------------------ Jazzkiller
I'll take allen over finley because when finley gets a little older and can't jump and drive as well, allen will still have his shot. ------------------ http://www.democrats.com mgh 1925-2001
Finley over Allen. Allen is better offensively but his defense is atrocious. And I'll take the Mavs trio simply because they cause so many match-up problems for opposing defenses. ------------------ Founder and President of the Houston Homers Club(HHC) - Are you a homer? I don't think I really have to answer this one. You can probably figure out what I would say. ------------------ There are no stupid questions, only stupid people who ask questions.
Finley vs Allen. Make no mistake, Finley has conceded alot to Dirk. He is a very clutch player. He's better defensively, but I think he could outscore Ray if he wanted to. Finley, and it's not that close. Heck, I may take Fin over Kobe. I'll take the Mavs trio, alot fewer egos. ------------------ "norm, would you like to buy an indian scalp ? The Dallas trio is better just b/c of Nowitzki. I haven't really watched Allen play that much to be able to judge if he's better than Finley. As far as Finley, I'm not that impressed with him. His shot can be off ALOT while Allen is a very good shooter. I don't know about Allen's defense though so I can't say who's better. Anyway back to the best trio, in a couple years it's gonna be Francis, Mobley, and Webber my fingers are crossed ------------------ Houston's Schedule: (40-33) @NJN, Dal, Sea, Atl, @Uth, Den, @Por, @Van, Min Minnesota's Schedule: (42-30) @Por, Por, Pho, LaL, @Van, @LaL, @LaC, Uth, @Hou, @Dal
Is it accurate to compare the Mavs trio to the Bucks trio? Robinson is a 6'8" small forward; Nowitzki is a 7 footer. They don't play the same position. For what its worth, I'd pick the 3 Bucks because they are going to win their division title with less surrounding talent than the Mavs have. If you are naming best trio in the NBA, regardless of position, I'd probably go with Duncan-Admiral-Anderson, CWebb-Peja-Vlade, or even Shaq-Kobe-whoever. ------------------ I'm about to boldly go where many men have gone before.
I don't think comparing divsion titles is fair because the teams are playing in completely different conferences. The Mavs are in the West where nearly every playoff team is better than the second place team in the East. The Bucks are in the first in their divsion because they don't have to play as many tough games against the Western conference teams. ------------------ There are no stupid questions, only stupid people who ask questions.
I would probably take Finley. Allen is better offensively IMO. I think they both sacrifice their game so that their respective teams will be more successful. Finley plays better D, and just looks like he's more of a competitor out there. Finley's only flaw is his shooting. It's not really bad, but he doesn't have a great perimter shot. He does seem to hit those outside shots when they count though. He's very clutch, except for that one airball he had against the knicks. ------------------
Finley has become a mature player who can make big shots when it counts,he can also dunk, even though Allen has a better outside shot and is more athletic than Finley.Puedlfor, slcrocket and gr8-1 are right on the money.Finley is a better allround player than Allen who is a poor defender.Nowitski is a future superstar,it was shocking to see him not being named to the All-Star team this year. ------------------
