So I decided to grab a whopper last night without cheese and mayo. I figured it couldn't be that bad eaten that way.

And then I looked it up this morning.

Can someone please explain how a "flame broiled" burger served on a bun with veggies only is still packing 25 grams of fat, including 10 grams of saturated fat and 1 gram of trans fats?!?

This really seems odd, especially if this isn't a fried burger.

    TIA.

    They oil the bun.

Its like whataburger. A regular whataburger, no cheese, is something like 600 calories.

If you order it on a dry bun (no oil) its like 400 calories.

    It's the meat.

A healthy burger has to be 98% lean ground.

Are you one of the many people who think adding veggies to a meal mysteriously makes it healthier?

It is not a lean piece of meat. Fast food restaurants don't use lean cuts. Ever gone to the grocery store and bought ground beef? If so, have you noticed that the lean ground beef is significantly more expensive than the fatty stuff? Well, if Fast Food restaurants used the leaner cuts, then you'd be paying more for that Whopper and there would be a thread stating how overpriced Burger King is for such a dry piece of meat.

It's the patty, Fatty. Not sure how they cook it, but they definitely draw those grill marks with a Sharpie.

Also, I don't see how a Whopper could be edible without cheese and mayo...

I think he's just wanting to know where the saturated fat and trans fat are coming from.

Order your whopper with double meat double cheese.

Just get a Diet Coke with it like the rest of healthy conscious America.

Must it always be about the meat?

Always watch out for the bread. It has a lot of calories.

Well, why don't they come back out with a "McLean" burger?

Or at least something remotely healthy. When you want a burger, you want a burger. Only so many Subway & grilled chicken places you can take in a row.

I agree! You just have to cook if you want a healthy burger. :)

So, let me get this straight. Fatty Fat is now working out, attempting to quit smoking, AND attempting to eat more healthy. Holy crap, the world may be near end.

But, the funny thing is..... you're working out, trying to eat heathy and still going to fast food restaurants. And yes, subway is still fast food. The only successful way to eat healthy is to prepare your meals at home, package them up and take them with you - otherwise you'll find yourself in desperate situations in the fast food drive thru lines. And even if you do find something thats low fat at a FF joint, it will still be loaded with sodium for the most part.

Why don't you sop going to fast food places looking for "good", "quality", and "healthful eating"?

If you don't use your brain it will only atrophy worse.

Cafe Express has a crazy good california burger with a veggie patty. I thought it would be terrible but it may be one of the best burgers ever. Their sweet potato fries are pretty damn good too.

    I'm hungry.

Because no one wants that stuff when they go to McDonald's. If they wanted that, they would just go to Subway.
