I'll be going to watch the HOU/LA Clippers Summer League game today, but before I do, I would like to ask your opinion. There will be a big matchup out there tonight on the court: E. GRIFFIN vs. D. MILES

    Quick comparison:

    EDDIE GRIFFIN

2000 PARADE ALL-AMERICA PLAYER ON THE YEAR

AVG. 26 pts, 13 rebs, 7 blocks as HS senior

2000-2001 NCAA FRESHMAN OF THE YEAR
AVG. over 17pts, 10 rebs, 4 blocks at Seton Hall

    6'9'' approximately 222lbs.

    DARIUS MILES

    2000 PARADE ALL-AMERICA FIRST TEAM

AVG. 23 pts, 12 rebs, 9 blocks as HS senior

    2001-2001 NBA FIRST TEAM ALL-ROOKIE

AVG. 9.4 pts, 5.9 rebs, 1.54 blocks as reserve for Clippers

QUESTION:If DMILES and EGRIFF declared together in the draft (either 2000-2001 or 2001/2002), whom would you have picked knowing what we all know now?

    Thanks!

    GRIFFIN.

the only reason being his body is better than miles'. he already has a good inside/outside game.

plus, he looks to be the better post defender. also, he has a true scorer's mentality, whereas miles (who i has VERY high on in the draft) has a more well-rounded mentality (do everything on the court). i'd take the scorer's mentality that can also play D.

it's like jason richardson vs. shane battier. i'd take j-rich. although it would be VERY close.

Miles is weird, I like his shot blocking but he can't shoot and he needs to bulk up. Tough question, Ive never liked Miles as a player but its an intresting scenario. This question is too hard because I have yet to see Griffen play, no comment.

    EG
darius is amazing, can do cool dunks and stuff, but eg is more solid player with an actual jumpshot and range which miles doesnt have

They both have so many things going for them in terms of physical attributes, but I would probably take Griffin, with the primary reason being shooting. Miles is an awful shooter away from the basket, and he needs to develop his shot to be a star in this league. He struggles often on free throws. Griffin already has range out to behind the college three point line, and if we're lucky, he can go out to the NBA three point line too. Eddie is also a little more versatile and probably a better post defender, but the biggest reason I'd take Eddie over Miles is shooting.

That being said, I wouldn't be surprised to see Miles get the better of him in their matchup tonight... NBA experience does mean something.

You have to pick Miles right now, because he is a proven talent. Ask me again next year.

    Griff

I think he has a better overall game and body. I like Miles' attitude a bit better though. Griffin appears to be volatile. I heard Miles lit Griffin up though back in HS. I wish I could hear/see the game tonight.

Considering that i haven't seen too much of Griffin yet, i would have to go with Miles.

But if Griffin is as good as alot of the people on this board this is or will become, I'd have to go with Griffin

Ask me in a couple of years after we've actually seen them play NBA competition for a while.

...or would that be too late? [IMG]

I would take Miles. I think he has the higher ceiling.

Who cares who has the bigger house, we're talking basketball.

Miles is more of a 2/3, Griffin is more of a 3/4. All depends on what you need.

Well, its a lot harder to play Bskball in a house with lower ceilings so I like the logic that EG will be better based on his ceilings.
