Garnett. I do not like Kobe, I do not like Artest. Sloan is a Jazz. lebron is ok to me, But I always liked Garnett. He is a great player, but he always had bad team surrounding him(that is because of his redicilus contract, and the smith incident)
I dont know about Garnett. If he receives the credit for their successes, shouldn't he receive some of the blame for their abysmal season. Sam and Spree had a down year, but they still got 22/9 combined from their PGs and 16 per from Sczerbiak off the bench. The Mayor set a record for 3 point accuracy, or came close. As much as it pains me to say it, Eddie Griffin provided a spark with his rebounding and shotblocking. The team defended well overall, shot the ball pretty good, got lots of assists. It wasn't a terrible supporting cast for KG. At some point, like Charles said, doesn't the superstar have to take and make the big shots?
I like KG, I really do. And I believe lots of people share the same feeling. The guy works so hard, and wants to win so badly, and he's a class act. However, I have problem that people regard him so highly. Something is not right with him, never able to pass the first round, until they got Sam and Spree last year. But KG got all the credit, and was the MVP. Earlier, when they failed to come out of the first round, we said that he got crap around him. They were a very good team last year, we said that KG imposed his will into the team and game. They are still a good team, and even better on the book this year, but Sam and Spree took the blame, and KG got the most sympathy. KG is a superstar, no doubt about that. But I don't think he's a great player. In my book, great players make their teammates better. KG hasn't proven that.
Artest. Not that I advocate what his antics on and off the court....its just that I felt that his suspension was way too drastic.
Kobe. He's become the most hated athlete in North America, possibly the world. Why not feel sorry for him?
LeBron. All these other guys didn't have a good chance of making the playoffs, and I mean that for Artest, too, because he won't be playing in them, even though his team is. LeBron was in the playoffs, but stupid upper management screwed it up for him when they fired their established coach. It's like he had something stolen from him, while the rest of this group didn't have it to begin with.
Sloan. His wife trumps everyone else's issues, and that's just for starters. He's also never properly been given his due for what has been one of the finest coaching tenures ever in this game. No pity for anyone that brought about their own problems (Kobe, Artest). I do believe LeBron could have prevented Silas' firing (he had dinner with the new owners just before it happened), and that he could have asserted himself a little more behind the scenes. Can't fault what he did on the court, though. Garnett doomed the team in the preseason when he didn't take Sam and Spree out behind the woodshed. You think Jordan or Bird would allow their teammates to affect their team like that (Jordan came close in his last season with Pippen acting like a weasle in Nov)? As amazing as KG is, he does allow personal feelings affect his locker room leadership. Too buddy-buddy with Sam and Spree, can be a little too cold to others. He needs to be ready to punch his best friend in the mouth for getting out of line, not just guys he doesn't respect. Evan
I have sympathy for none of them. Sloan is Jazz. The rest not being in the playoffs ... it's on their heads, whether they put up good stats or not.
Bryant - Don't like him and it is hard to be sympathetic to someone or something that you do not like. Garnett - Maybe. I mean he has the heart and all that but maybe he should restructure his contract, even if he already has before, so Minnesota can add another piece to their puzzle. Also, like somebody said if he is the superstar and can get most of the credit when the team is successful, shouldn't he take some of the blame for being unsuccessful? James - He's like 20 right? He'll have PLENTY more chances. Sloan - See Bryant. Artest - I think his suspension was too long but with his past history and the scene that night at the Palace I can see why it might warrant a long suspension.
LBJ because he does everything for his team and nobody seems to want to help him out. Sloan and KG have been to the playoffs. Kobe brought a lot on himself, though it is sad his teammates don't even try on defense. Artest, even though I don't totally blame him for his actions this time, brought it on himself by being such a hothead in other seasons.
Lattrell Sprewell. Poor Spree does not make enough to support his family. I wish the best for his family, who may be starved and struggling with finding meals because Sprewell only MAKES SEVEN MILLION. Maybe, his children would come off welfare when his salary raises to ten million.
i picked lebron because all of the hardwork and dedication he put himself into the cavs org this season and what did they do, disrespect all of it! they fired paul silas with 18 games remaining and not to mention they were on the rise and they were running strong on the playoff race. cavs management is really screwed!! i felt sorry for kg too. just coz sam-i-am and spree "cant feed his family" didnt get the $$$ they wanted, they f'ed up the chemistry. kg's loyalty to the wolves is second to none.
I hate kobe I dont like lebron Sloan not too bad Artest is ok to me KG excellent player and charismatic ( I vote for him)
I voted for Lebron. He is very young and has a very big responsibility of being the leader of a NBA team at the age of 20. He did his best and tried to involve everyone in the team, carried himself professionally and seems like a humble young man who will keep on getting better. I wanted to see him in the playoffs but I'm sure it's only a matter of time before he makes it there.
