LeBron (age 25) or Kobe (age 31). Simple pool. LeBron youngest to 15,000 points by 2 years. Kobe is clutch.
Not really fair to Kobe. If talent level is remotely close, then it is a no brainer take the younger player to start a franchise.
I'm with Daryl Morey on this one: http://thepaintedarea.blogspot.com/2010/03/slaon-conference-report-what-geeks-dont.html There is no evidence to support that "clutch" is a consistently repeatable skill and if I'm building a franchise around a player I'm not factoring it into my decision as a result. LeBron is simply the better player in terms of points scored versus points saved.
You should really expand this league wide...James is a NO-BRAINER. Expanding it outside these two, Deron Williams for me.
Whoever picked Kobe knows jack about basketball. Kobe might be better right now, but no way you start a franchise with a 31 yr old if you have the option of picking Lebron. Better question would be, who would you pick after Lebron? DWade? Carmelo? DW? C Paul? K. Durant? (this would be it for me)
A better question is who you pick between LeBron and Durant. LBJ is unquestionably the better player right now, but Durant is younger and could be better in the future... at the very least you'll get more quality years out of him, most likely.
I'd start with a 100% supportive, ultra rich partner. How about it, Slim? Mexico City would be perfect.
Yea, that made no sense sorry. I was trying to say that these two are obivous choices and it should be expanded outside of these two, not including them, and my choice would be Williams. James/Bryant are on another planet and then there is everyone else.
LMAO..... that made me chuckle... Clyde once said on a Rockets broadcast that Jordan ruined that young kids career.... lol
Nah. Durant is better than Kobe already, and there are a number of other players who are roughly equal in value.
Lebron, but if both were the same age, I would go with Kobe. Lebron's game is way too ball-dominant for my liking. When your offense has to revolve around one player, it's too easy to shut down imo. Jordan and Kobe always had secondary and tertiary scoring options. (in Kobe's case, he was the secondary option in the 00-02 Lakers' squads). If you have Lebron, he's the primary, secondary, and third option. All the players who joined the Cleveland Lebrons have seen their scoring average decline, because they have to revolve around Lebron.
if lebron isnt a choice i would have a toss up between Williams and Durant personally myself. but anyone who doesnt pick lebron right now is crazy heck even if kobe was 25 i would still take lebron
1) LeBron James - He's relatively young, and he's the most versatile, complete swingman in the game. The King's a freight train in the lane, a man around the rim, and his outside game is much improved. 2) Kevin Durant - He's a rising superstar with loads of talent on the offensive end of the floor. Long, lean, and still has room to grow. 3) Carmelo Anthony - Melo's arguably the most skilled offensive player in the league, and he's willing to take and hit the big shot. He's all about getting buckets. 4) Kobe Bryant - He's older, but his game needs no explanation. The Black Mamba's clutch. 5) Deron Williams - He's the best PG in the game - explosive, deadly from beyond the arc, elite court vision, and he possesses great character.
