So someone asked me this question and I answered with my honest opinion.

But I guess the statement about Yao that I wrote

"He also has the best FG%" has insulted all the Tmac nation.

So I ask the Clutchfan nation, who would you rather have on this team.

    Its easy like Sunday morning.

Wow. You need to take a step back tinman. You're taking this way too personally. All I said was that you of all people should know that better FG% doesn't equal better player.

In 80s & 90s, I would take Yao. After the rule change, I would take T-Mac. The difference is a wing player can always handle the ball and a center always depends on his teammates to pass him the ball. It's much easier to deny the ball from a center nowadays.

But if you want to talk about the character of a player, then Yao stands out for sure.

    I don't think that's even debatable..

the problem isn't who we prefer, the problem lies in actually "getting" this magically healthy (or non-lazy, for that matter) Tmac, which is quite difficult if not impossible..

a deadly scorer with ridiculous athleticism, amazing handles, exceptional IQ, and top-tier court vision would be a lot better than an excellent center who can't keep position against Pryzbilla (as a result of the combination of horrible officiating and upper body weakness/lack of mobility)..

man, typing this out makes me realize how big of a piece of crap Tmac is.. if only he had a winner's attitude he could be mentioned among the greatest of all time with the skillset he has.. goes on to show that skill is only part of it, and hardwork/attitude is what separates success and failure..

does a healthy t-mac imply a dedicated t-mac? 22 game win streak is pretty strong, but the pre-trade deadline surgery has definately soured me...much like the double-team elimination of yao. i abstain.

quote me when I said SPECIFICALY FG%=BEST PLAYER??

here this is EXACTLY the question

he didn't ask me if FG% = greatest player or if Tmac can jump over cars. He just ask me who I thought was better as a healthy player.

and I was just listing off why I like a healthy Yao over Tmac.

Oh, I THINK YAO IS THE BEST PLAYER ON THE ROCKETS.

Quote me on that, and if you want me to list more reasons why I like Yao more, than I'll gladly tell you more things than that he has a high shooting percentage.

This is a 1-star thread. You'd think after 5 years of this people would be tired of it by now....

apparently some people want my opinion and I'm giving it them.

you might not agree with it, but I think a healthy Yao is better.

Look at the last NBA champions, they all had a strong post player.

    Shaq, KG, Duncan

no you don't like it cause there's a poll and you won't agree with the majority of the people here about it.

this thread is about a question someone asked me and i gave them my opinion, if you are too scared to give your opinion to the clutchfans

    you can email

Tinman, you are going to far man.

Why would you ask this question considering everyone hates McGrady because of what happened this season.

If you asked if you would prefer a healthy Scola over McGrady, people would pick Scola.

And easily this would be McGrady.

A healthy McGrady would average 25/6/6 consistently.

Sadly, McGrady hasn't been able to stay healthy.

Yao has been shut down this whole series against the young and experienced Portland Trailblazers.

McGrady would tear this team apart if he was healthy.

i love yao and really appreciate that he's on the rockets, but a healthy t-mac...

    - is a better player
    - is a beast in the postseason
    - would solve houston's biggest weaknesses in the backcourt
    - is a better fit for the type of basketball that's currently played in the nba

it's obvious that it's a lot easier to root for yao at this point, but from a basketball standpoint there really shouldn't be any discussion here. sorry yao.

The real poll should read a

    75% healthy tmac

    or a

    healthy ron artest

Yao definitely has high field goal percentage, but it doesn't mean that he could do whatever he likes on the court when it matters in the final seconds of the game. He's not a closer,he's a great playa no doubt about it.

    Absolutely a HEATHY T-MAC. :)
