If you were Van Gundy or antother high profile coach and were given the ability to pick and choose what team you work for. Would it be the Cavs the Rox are another team. I dont want to be a homer, but I dont see any team in the league right now at this point that has as many positives then the the Houston Rockets.
Thers a lot of factors that are involved. If the coach is basing his decison on who has the most talent and the best chance of winning right away then the Rockets are the most attractive team. But theres many more attractors and dectrators for a coaching canidate to consider. For instance, I read somewhere that Van Gundy knows the Gund - the owner in Clevland - and he kind of likes the guy. Then theres Dunleavy who is considering the Hawks job because he's good friends with the GM over there. Then of course Larry Brown is already under contract and he's been in Philly for 6 yrs so theres a comfortable feeling of familiarity with that organization and city that could ultimately keep him there. New arena, and two high profile players, and a team that is on the rise, does not mean we will have the first pick of the litter, so to speak. We could easily be turned down by all three of those top dogs and be left with lesser names but guys who are just as capable... guys, like D'antoni, Silas, Rivers, and Kruger.
If I have been reading the Clutch BBS I know that there are major Positives and Negatives. I also know that change is needed in Staff,Players and our coaching methods. Then again I am experienced I know that it wont be a cake walk in Cleveland either. If I hope to settle down with my team I would want to go into the most major market, which of course is Houston.Yao Ming has gone through the hype so that he has a better chance of concentrating on Basketball this season. Unlike Lebron James who is going to be hyped up like he was the combination of a Jordan and an Hakeem, so much so that it might interfer with his initial learning during the Rookie Year. The next thing that comes to mind is will I have the liberty to make this Team mine{Trades}. I like the friendly, good mannered people of Texas and the mild Winter, so I go with Houston.
I would pick Rox over the Cavs cause were just a few years a way for being a championship contender and you dont even know if lebron is all that good
Rockets in a heartbeat. In Cleveland, if LeBron isn't an instant superstar, the coach will be fired. And if LeBron DOES become an instant superstar, LeBron will have the coach fired. Plus, the team sucks ass. In Houston, you've got two young franchise players (Francis and Ming) and another (Mobley) who can score with the best in the league. Problems? Absolutely, but there's much more to work with in Houston.
Depends.... For Van Gundy.....he knows the Cavs owner, but he won't like a big project. He probably wants a playoff team....ROCKETS. Larry Brown....he's at Philly..but he always likes a new challenge....and Rockets would be perfect for him......he's a GREAT teacher..wouldn't like Cavs. ROCKETS. WE GOT YAO MING. That's all you need to know. And along with Yao......we have Eddie Griffin, Steve Francis, Bostjan Nachbar, and Cuttino Mobley. That seems pretty appealing to me. AND ON TOP OF THAT.......WE GOT A NEW ARENA. PLUS NEW UNIFORMS. New facilities. New everything. This is the perfect place to restart as a coach..... Welcome to Houston Larry Brown!
If Larry Brown is not a good teacher then who is going to --teach Yao Ming how to play NBA Basketball? -- teach the Guards how to play team basketball? -- teach Griffin how to play the NBA Game etc.etc.-- A few minutes ago I read a posting that said that when Larry Brown says something you cant take it as gospel as he changes his mind quickly. Sounds like he could drive some players away from the game. If he is fed up in Philly or burned out, how is he going to be the vibrant, upbeat coach thats going to stimulate the Rox in playing a new way-Team Basketball?
me too! Well............................uhhhhhhhhh it wouldn't. But new facilities and training equipment and a new arena and new stuff and a new beginning and everything young and new seems appealing. Come on Larry Brown!
i think he'll teach the team how to play with one another. i think he'll teach the gaurds how to involve their teammates...(didnt he lead the ABA in assists 1 year?) i think he'll do a wonderful job with Griff. Look what he did with KT.
