I give Rudy all the credit for our success in the the 90's (the good part of it ) , he is a great coach but unfortunately he could not adjust to new rules (our offensive game is pathetic and also our defense is poor ) , I know what you're going to say : "francis, taylor, rice are injured ... and so on …" but look at Detroit they don't have more talent than we do , except Wallace, Stackhouse and Cliff the don't have anybody on their team , and they are leading the east , last year they sucked and now with their new head coach and cliff Robinson they are amazing (they have changed from the worst team in the east to the best , and the only difference is their new coach) , I know that the Rockets can play much better , but with Rudy nothing is going to change we've lost to the worst teams in the league : Washington , Chicago and Memphis and none of them are better than us . I think Rudy should resign; he is a great but for the moment he is not good enough to get us into the playoffs and get the best out from each player. I would prefer Dunleavy (even Van Gundy would be a better option right now ) as our head coach .Dunleavy is a great coach, Portland blamed him for their failures and now their squad is even better but they are playing even worse than before .( Dunleavy was also the coach of the year 3 years ago , so there is no argue that he is talented ). I think he can do a better job than Rudy (because we can't get any worse) and maybe he is the real answer to our problems.

rite now i would take van gundy if he wants but i think rudy needs 2 become our GM. And if Dunleavy becomes our head coach somehow we'll get his son.

    Let's see.....

On one hand you got a coach who lost complete control of his team in Dunleavy and was generally pitied by the rest of the league.

Then you got a guy in Van Gumby who always, as much as I hate to admit that, seemed to get more out of his team than anyone else. However, thanks to the pressure of being a coach for a "New York" team, he has fallen by the wasteside.

Dunleavy would probably not work out unless EG turns into Sheed. Maybe if this happens, Van Gumby can become an assistant to Dunleavy and when EG gets into a fight, VG can hold onto EG's leg like a little Lhasa Apso.

Seriously, I don't want either one of them. Here's a novel concept: why not judge Rudy's performance when he has all his weapons. I know that I like to kid about getting rid of him, but you have to be one sadistic and masochistic mutha f*cker to want him gone now when the poor guy has 3 starters injured and another hobbled.

Rudys a players coach. Every player loves Rudy because slaps around dumbasses like me and they get to watch.

Maybe Odom is thinking about joining the rockets so he can watch me get beat down as well? :)

Van Gundy and Dunleavy are better X and O coaches. They both excel at tic-tac toe.

I pity you for having no idea what you are talking about. Rather than making comments such as these, why don't you give a valid argument for not keeping Rudy. Probably becuase there isnt a good one? Rudy is the man for the job.

    Dunleavy.

Essentially, the Rockets are playing Knick-like bball right now.

but no one has mentioned one of the most brilliant Xs and Os Coaches of all time.

    Rick Pitino

He has a really big playbook.

Notice how Boston has the 3rd best record in the East without Pitino around overly-complicating everything, and now their new coach is going back to basics and winning.

Riley has a big playbook and a stud center, stud SG and solid PF, with 3 wins and a 12 game lossing streak under his belt.

Rivers spreads the floor with Mac. Nothing different to Van Gundy's game. Rudy could easily run Mobley through a bunch of picks, too, but we have a PG to feature who wants to play "the right way,"

Lenny Wilkins ran iso after iso last year, and he is the All-time Winningest Coach in NBA history....regarded by many as the best NBA coach right now. Plus, he is on record saying he would have used Mobley identical to Rudy had Cat left for Toronto.

Then we have Larry Brown, the top 5 all time innovators in college, and reigning Coach of the Year in the NBA using Iverson differently than Francis and Mobley HOW, exactly?

Francis3: This may be the dumbest, most ridiculous statement ever made on this BBS and that is saying a LOT. I would call you and idiot, but I think you did that to yourself with that statement.

    Good job. Keep it up.

What are the terms? If you are suggesting Rudy will be replaced before the end of the season or even at the end of the season, I'll take that bet every day and twice on Sunday.

What I'm suggesting is that if things don't improve by the end of the season(or sooner possibly), then it's asta la vista Rudy. Les would be an idiot not to make changes.

And it's not just Rudy either. I think the whole front office could use a good cleaning out......it's become stagnant and complacent and that in turn it tends to reflect on the attitudes of the players.

It's a business; you run it like a business. Thats means if a manager isn't performing up to standards, you move them around or you fire their ass....regardless of past history. Yesterdays dollars don't buy diddley today.

2 championship rings? Loyalty? Makes you feel all warm & fuzzy inside, eh? Ha! Loyalty doesn't buy anything either...except maybe a crappy gold watch and a forced early retirement.

Sure, there's been tons of injuries this year, but that's no reason for the lackluster crap that's been on display as of late. These people are professionals..they get paid millions of dollars to perform at a very high level, but when that doesn't happen...then the direct cause is management.; plain & simple.

I will personally GUARANTEE that, even if the Rockets struggle the rest of the season, Rudy will remain the coach. The organization loves him and trusts him. They understand that losing 3 starters to injury and playing with another that is well below 100 percent is a recipe for disaster no matter what the team or situation.

You may not like him, but I can tell you that Rudy would be without a job for about 10 seconds if he was fired here. He is considered one of the top 5 coaches in the NBA.

So, name your terms and I'll take that bet.

Actually I wouldn't mind having Calvin Murphy as the coach. He knows his X's and O's but, more than that he knows the players and there strength and weakness.

By the way, this has nothing to do with my loyalty to Rudy. If you recall, I was one who totally supported the decision to move Olajuwon in the offseason. I've been a fan through 6 or 7 coaches, nearly as many GM's, dozens of players and 2 owners. I liked some and didn't like others, but I've always been the first to call it as I see it.

I didn't like the Barkley trade because it meant losing Horry, not Cassell. I felt like keeping Horry would have given us enough defense to justify the move but giving him up was too much.

I was for the Drexler trade because that team needed shaking up.

I HATED the Moses Malone trade.

I thought Kenny Smith should have come off the bench.

I liked the Glen Rice deal.

I thought the Rodrick Rhodes draft was a joke.

I was pissed when we passed on Rahard Lewis.

When Les Alexander took over and fired Calvin Murphy only to bring him back, I was glad to see it.

I am not a loyalist to any player, coach or GM. I am loyal to the team and what makes them better. I do not believe that a coaching change will solve the injury problems or create wins.
