Out of CURRENT NBA players? No bench, just five starters.

    Rondo
    Wade
    Battier
    Birdman
    Howard

If we could include bench though...

    Rondo
    Wade
    Battier
    Chuck Hayes
    Howard

I think Hayes is the best defensive 4 in the game today. No doubt.

    ^ I like this

Hayes can be a brick wall in the post against people a lot taller.

His legs are like tree stumps!!

Nice list, but Birdman and Howard is kind of redundant. Howard gives you everything Birdman does, and is a lot better. Garnett would be the appropriate answer at 4 I think, but he has not been himself this year due to the injuries.

I'll do something different, I'll try to put a realistic team together, one that would be in a good cap range. Their not necessarily the best, but all are pretty good for their positions.

    Kirk Hinirich - PG
    Andre Iguodala - SG
    Shane Battier - SF
    Tim Duncan - PF
    Kendrick Perkins - C

    Bench
    Ronnie Brewer - SG
    Chuck Hayes - PF
    Dikembe Mutombo - C
    Boris Diaw - SF
    Mario Chalmers - PG

I like this one for the most part, except for my personal, irrational dislike of Kendrick Perkins.

    PG: Chauncey Billups

SG: Kobe Bryant - As Overrated as he may be, he's still one of the best man to man defenders in the league. He doesn't give it every night because he's more busy on the offensive end

    SF: Shane Battier

    PF: Kevin Garnett

C: Yao Ming or Dwight Howard - Yeah, I might be a homer, but it might depend on the center. If they have a scoring center who plays inside a lot I'll take Yao to defend him because Yao is the better post defender. If the center isn't really an elite scoring center, and has a perimeter game in him, then I'll take Howard. Matchups, Matchups, Matchups.

Yes the ice man, I knew i was going to raise eye brows but apart from Wilt and Robertson i have studied tapes and read alot about Gervin. Apart from holding the most scoring titles he also had that nasty pesky defense that wade has. The stats don't show it but one of the most interesting reads on gervin is that when they interviewed Dr. J he said Gervin was the most underrated defender he has ever seen.

Gervin played motivated and never gave up on a play. That's what i loke into a player a defensive player, not someone who throws packs the ball into the stands, Von Wafer can do that...

The rockets had a 7'4 C, and Hakeem (7'1) was their power foward...

You can put deke at the 5 and Olajuwon at the 4, irdc. It's not a big deal..

    TracyMacAddidas,

I don't know what you read, but Gervin was always known for some weak defense (Dr. J's quote, notwithstanding - hell, he probably said it so he could put another 10 points on Gervin... lol).

Also, Hakeem was never 7'1". He was about 6'11" but listed at 7'0". And he was the Rockets' C - Ralph was the PF.
