    V. Span or Lucas III?

I think Lucas is better right now since he has more experience but I think if V. Span gets minutes and gets a year under his belt he will eventually become better than Lucas.

I'd like an aggressive half court defender like Lindsay Hunter or Darrell Armstrong, but since we decided not to go that route, I'll go with Spanoulis.

As of right now I'd say Lucas. I have no idea what Vspan brings to the table. We'll see when training camp comes around.

i wouldn't want rafer to be our back up. then that means JLIII or Vspan would be our starting...unless they post up better percentages than he does and not to mention assists over turn over ratio...

marcus banks was our chance. oh well, i think right now it's undecided which one of those will be the backup.

they will fight it out in camp and preseason.

Given that we have never seen VSpan play before and given that JL3 is also basically unknown and given that Sura's status is unknown, I have no flippin' idea who I prefer.

So this will be my earth shattering statement:

I want our starting PG and our backup PG to be the guys that gives us the best chance of winning.

Very true. I think the starting and back-up roles should be up for grabs.

Job #1 of our PG should be to be efficient witht he ball when open (knock down open shots and converting in the lane), job #2 is defense, job #3 is being calm/organizing the team, and job #4 is being a creator (for many team is this job #1, but they don't have players like Tmac and Yao ).

I throw Head in there too. When looking at the criteria above I'd like Head or JL3 to earn the starting spot (I am just doubtfull Rafer will ever be efficient enough in his shooting), with Rafer or VSpan off the bench in a scorer or creator role with the 2nd team.

Right now, I'd say Lucas III since I haven't seen Spanoulis play, outside a few highlight clips. Maybe my opinion would change after watching them in preseason.

I agree with DS's Job #s. Our pt guard does not have to have the best handles, considering the fact that we could have 4 players on the court at the same time who are capable of bringing the ball up. With Battier at the 4, he could bring the ball up with little pressure from the Defense. I like Head playing some 1, since he might be the best shooter of the bunch.

When JHo is in the game then Rafer or anyone of the other gaurds should be in. I hold my breath everytime Head brings the ball up the court. Then again, he could have worked on the this offseason.

Does anyone else think that V-Span is more suited toward being a combo back-up at both positions, while Lucas is the primary backup at pg? I mean, is V-Span really all that suited towards being a point guard? (i've only seen the highlights of him)

I have no idea. I've never even seen Spanoulis play. I figure I'll decide who I like better in the pre-season.

Really. And Lucas being anything is based on summer league play. Let's face it, other than Rafer and Head, we really don't know what we have, and Rafer, in my opinion, would be best coming off the bench, and Head doesn't have the handles to be a starting 1, imo. KillBill??? Who knows?!
