I think our team is better than Orlando, but they are in the second round and we are not. If Tmac was still there are they a better team? Having 23 mil off their books helped them sign some of their players that helped them reach the second round. However they pretty much gave up Tmac for nothing at this point.

Rockets won. They kept no one on that roster that was dealt in the trade. The Rockets got Francis back on a much cheaper contract and the Magic were fortunate to get the #1 pick and get Howard.

Hedo playing to his potential that many thought he'd reach with the Kings is also a great benefit.

Their contract signed for Rashard Lewis though is a huge mistake on their part. Imagine McGrady with Lewis' contract and him on the roster. They'd be a legit Finals contender in the East in my opinion.

    Howard
    Hedo
    T-Mac

    looks better than

    Howard
    Hedo
    Lewis

    imo.

All that needs to be said. At some point, I think you have to stop attributing everything to the trade.

Without a doubt, for Tmac himself, that trade is a huge mistake.

If they had Tmac they might not have signed Hedo. Would Jameer nelson or DHoward become the players they are now?

orlando could have used tmac right now, alot more than they can use rashard lewis. and tmac could have used dwight howard. i don't have pitty on tmac. it's a shame that we tried to take an advantage over a player that wanted to get traded and the team wanted to trade him cause he wasn't tryin hard. :D oh well,

orlando vs houston matchup at the finals would be fun. of course, we will sweep them again. sounds familiar? great new center gets sweeped by a team with an older great center.

Rockets still hands down won that trade, because the Magic pretty much let all the other players go for cap space and in terms of talent, head to head, they got nothing back for letting McGrady go. Drafting Dwight is what changed that team's outlook for the future, more so than the overpaid talent of Rashard Lewis. McGrady is still a bona fide superstar, a true game changer.

I think a more astute question would be this: in hindsight, does McGrady now regret leaving Orlando for Houston? Had he waited, he may have suffered for a few years, but at this point of time Dwight is at least healthy and has a much higher ceiling than a guy like Yao, so you know he would be playing in tip-top shape when the playoffs roll around.

I still think McGrady would rather play with Yao than Dwight, mostly because Yao is a more 'mature' giant. I think he just soured on the Magic overall because of Weisass when he wanted out.

The Rockets won that trade hands down. It remains to be seen whether going to the Houston Rockets is still the right decision.

u do realize the traded ended being

    Tmac
Bobby Jackson via Mike James twice (Reece Gaines AND Juwon Howard)
    Rafer (via James)
    Jon Barry (via Tyrone Lue)

    for

    Penny/cap room(via Francis to Knicks)
Marcus Banks/Brian Cook (via Trevor Ariza in the Francis trade)
Carlos Arroyo/Darko Milicic (via Cato trade)
    Doug Christie (via Mobley trade)

btw, Howard was drafted in 04 and played Francis his first year with Magic

Francis is back with us, as much as people had to admit Rafer panned out great, Christie retired, Darko was signed elsewhere in favor for Rashard Lewis

so yea, I thinnk the Rockets still came out ahead

The Rockets won when some years ago some Olajuwon guy in Africa got laid, and the wife was impregnated. The guy thought he won. But it was the Rockets who benefited from that intercourse.

BTW, he later named the baby Akeem.

Dwight Howard would still be a freak of nature. Dwight Howard would have gotten even more assists from T-mac than Steve-o. Imagine them bullet passes from T-Mac to Yao and Chuck Hayes. Now, put Dwight Howards explosiveness to the basket and you got a guaranteed dunk.

LOL! Exactly. How far back can you go? It's like six degrees of separation, teams will always make moves and you can't keep attributing each one to an 'echo' effect of one guy being moved ages ago. I am hoping no Magic fans are saying, "thank God we got rid of Shaq, because if we hadn't we wouldn't have sucked enough to get Dwight Howard."

Some common sense is needed here...

Nobody in their right mind really believes the Magic will win the EC. Vegas odds are what they are for a reason.

they are in the second round because they have perimiter shooters who can make shots and they have a dominant center. however we have better players adn we definitly got the better end of the deal considering that we got francscs back for like 2 million. and they are also in the second round because they play in the leastern confrence where the sonics could have made the playoffs.

I said if Tmac was still in Orlando, they would win the EC.
