I wanted to start a thread/poll to see who people would vote for in the presidential election now and then do one right around election time to see if anything has changed once we see the challengers select their vice president picks and go through debates, campaigning, and numerous other tools they have to sway voters. I realize that most of the people on the message board appear to be liberal but I have seen some say they can go either way. The poll is NOT public as I feel there will be some who do not want others to know who they will be voting for. Please vote and let's see if we can get an idea where we're headed.
Undecided, but not Barack Obama. As a Republican party official, I have to decide whether or not voting for a bad candidate from my party is beneficial to my party in the long run. (But since I live in Texas, it won't matter much.)
I am heavily leaning towards Barr right now... just because I want less taxes and smaller govt ( generally ) doesn't mean I should get stuck with a war crazy psyco.
Obama, and he will win by the biggest margin since Bush I beat Dukakis in 1988. It will not be close.
I'm not voting because of the whole Texas thing. I feel so uninvolved in the presidential political process with the way it's set up.
whoever taxes the least, redistributes wealth the least, involves the govt in social programs the least, needless to say, neither candidate is ideal for that.
It is true that Bush-McCain GOP types redistribute wealth to the upper classes and involve the government in massive spending programs benefiting especially those who are involved in the war industry such as Cheney's Halliburton. They have tried to hold the line on spending for the veterans, and members of the middle and lower class.
I think it may be close. It gets down to how much the GOP can smear Obama for his skin color, make lying claims that he is a Muslim and is not as patriotic as McCain because he really is not looking to get involved in elective foreign wars. If folks don't fall for the smear game, on a larger level, it is hard to think people will vote for more of the same, which is basically what McCain is.
I respectfully disagree with you. If McCain wins, it will be a squeaker, made up of electoral votes from places like the Dakotas and Wyoming. If Obama wins, it will be due to the fact that he has won big states that have gone for the Repubs in recent elections, like Ohio.
I keep hearing this charge. Where are these smear ads? McCain hasn't said anything of the sort. None of the surrogates(at least the relevant ones) have either. Meanwhile, you've got Wesley Clark and Jim Webb, both touted as potential VP picks for Obama, out there trashing McCain's military service.
Anyone realize that twice as many people voted in the last American Idol final than will vote for President of the United States this November? We. Are. Screwed.
