What is the fascination on this board with scurbs, first TMo and now Hawkins? Everyone here complained about Posey's inability to shoot from outside last year and now you want to replace him with a 30 year old scrub who's kicked around the CBA for years, and has a TERRIBLE jumper? Guys, give me a break, Hawkins is a hustle player who might be able to give you 10 minutes a night off the bench, but if you ask him to play starters minutes you might as well get ready for the 2004 lottery.
Rocketfan007, I am not a big fan of Juaqin. He should get very limited minutes. But the sad reality is he probably will be our starter. Look at our roster.
hawkins is a little weird in that he shoots a terrible percentage (38.5) and yet had the best 3 pt % on the team at 40.7 i think. he still isn't good for the O no matter the 3 pt % though, just wanted to point out that weird stat. we remember how sucky our ppg were when cat missed those 8 games and JH got big minutes. as for the thread, i'm assuming rice will start. unless he's injured or boki steps up huge in camp, i would think the job is his by default. he's mostly equal to the other SF's in overall ability, but having a 3pt shot as his big strength should get him the nod. he won't see many minutes though, i assume boki and juaquin will get some, and then the 3 guard lineup will get the rest. and whereas last year when we went 3 guard, one of the guards was moochie (who has no talent) now one of the 3 will be pike (who actually has talent) so it won't be as bad as going 3 guard in the past and may actually be beneficial in certain matchups.
You really need to look at the 3 point percentage a little closer, he only shot 24 all last season, so you can't look at his percentage the same as Francis, Cat etc.
I think it's because the Jazz are seriously struggling to sign anybody...and they need to have enough payroll to be above the minimum limit....and trading Rice to them would help put them over that minimum requirement??? And his contract expires next season...so they can rebuild once again. It's beneficial for both teams! I'm not sure if I'm describing it correctly....get the master Sanjaylucknow to explain it.
I understand the concept. On top of all everything is that Utah has two excellent 3s, either/both of whom I wish were Rox -- AK47 and Matt 'Lineback' Harpering.
Maybe Tito Maddox will be that pure PG we've been looking for. Maybe Moochie Norris will shave his head. Oh, wait a sec...
Sadly - I think Mr. Rice will be the starter while Boki is in search of his game.... This will be a sad sight. Rice no Defense, broke down old player.....
