with Yao out the whole season I was wondering who do you guys think will make in the All-Star weekend on the current roster?? here is who I think will make it.

AB in the PG skills contest
    White in the dunk contest
Budinger and maybe Taylor in the Rookie/Sophmore Game
and hopefully either Battier or Scola in the actual game

Just curious becasue i might have to make that trip if any of our players go. :D

There is not a option for no one? I don't think anybody on our squad is going to make a all-star appearance.

Can you say none of the above. Also I LoL'ed when I saw Chuck Hayes name on that list. That was funny. Chase also. No way. All Star Weekend is a popularity thing.

McGrady has the best chance of making the team than the guys you mentioned. Considering if he misses the 1st month.

Scola probably has the best shot as he might be the #1 or 2 option on the offensive, he could have some really good numbers.

I'll be there!...presale tickets at ticketmaster...code: HOUFAN if you don't already know.

Now to answer the poll. I see James White entering the Dunk Contest, and outshining LeBron James.

I said before that one of the things I'm looking forward to most this season is to see if any of our guys (besides Yao/T) can make the all-star team.

I think Brooks and Scola are both the most likely (not very likely, mind you), although since guards generally have a harder time cracking the roster I picked Scola.

Brooks should be part of the skills challenge.

I still say nobody. Nobody on our current roster is going to get selected to do the skills competion, dunk contest, 3 point contest, or HORSE. We don't have the Comets so nobody will do the Shooting Stars competition. Nobody has a chance of making the actual game unless McGrady is ready to start the season and he returns to his pre-2008 form.

I guess there's an outside shot that one of our rookies could be in the Rookie/Sophomore game but I doubt it.

I think the best shot at seeing a Rocket participate in an All-Star event is maybe Clyde playing in the celebrity game.

Budinger or White should be in the dunk contest.

I wouldn't hold my breath on that one. My vote goes to Scola.

James White should be a lock to get into the dunk contest.

Which ever player purchases tickets to attend.

*Unless Mcgrady is healthy......he is still very popular.*

Yep and I will be there :)

Does anyone know how access to the other events is handled (ie. separate tickets)?

Yeah, if T-Mac returns a month or two into the season but has an immediate impact and avgs. good numbers he'd have a pretty good shot at making the all-star team I'd say. And here's to hoping for that...

But McGrady aside, I think one of our young players has a chance at playing in the Rookie/Soph game, that Aaron Brooks has an outside shot of competeing in something outside of the actual all-star game, and that Scola has a possible, but not plausible, shot to make the all-star game as a backup PF or something. Oh well, we'll see.

Budinger in the Rookie/Sophomore game, and Brooks should be in the PG Skills Competition.

None and here is my reasoning:

Aaron Brooks - Too many other good PGs and dont see him making it for anything else.

Shane Battier - Underrated player and wont get the votes. MAYBE, just maybe, as a reserve but still unlikely, IMO

Chase Budinger - Unless he is seeing big minutes or is having one heck of a year, doubtful he gets in for the R/S game. Heck, granted its summer league,he dont even get the love there. (Do coaches choose those players or how do they get chosen?)

James White - Not even a lock to make the team

Luis Scola - Probably the player with the best chance to make it. Not sure if he will though. (Now with Yao out, teams will target him and Brooks as they are the most viable options to score. Will he still get those open jumpers he got when Yao was doubled, and will teams double him now in the post?)

Trevor Ariza - His numbers will *hopefully* improve from when his time with LA, but still just another role player and a piece to the puzzle.

Chuck Hayes - No way Chuck makes it. Thats just wishful thinking.
