If so, they will be tied at
    (1) Better winning percentage in games against each other. (2-2)
    (2) Better winning percentage against teams in own division (only if tied teams are in same division). (10-6)
    (3) Better winning percentage against teams in own conference (36-16)

    What about the fourth criterion?

Why would we be above them? Im curious cause I really dont know. Because we are on top and they have to actually pass us in order to take it?

we have a better record against playoff teams. that is the 4th tie breaker. so we get the 3rd seed

They showed it on TNT the other day...it goes like 5 tie breaks down...and the rockets have a better record against playoff teams in the west....

but i believe we win out and denver loses at portland, we get the 2 seed

Rockets win with a better record against Western Conference playoff teams, I believe.

This is what Im looking for! Then we will make it to the WCF. If someone like Portland knocks off LA along the way, then BAM, we will beat them and get to meet the CAVS or CELTICS in the Finals! That would be miraculously MARVELOUS! :D

If the Rockets and Spurs win out and the Nuggets lose against the Blazers the Rockets will get the 2nd seed and Spurs get the 3rd seed with the Nuggets falling down to the 4th spot. I hope that happens. :)

not true. Denver is a division winner, so they hold to tie break against spurs.

    it would go

    1. Houston
    2. Denver
    3. Portland
    4. San Antonio

ahh nvm, just realized that portland and denver would be tied for the division, but who would win that tie breaker?

Yea nvm, I was still right, even if portland ties denver in the division, denver would win the tiebreak by having a better division record [H2H would be tied 2-2.. if portland beats denver]

Question for all members wanting the Rockets to be second in the west--
If we won our first round would it then mean thet we would face the Lakers in the second round- semi final? :p If so then we should stay in third, don't you think? :p

The more interesting scenario is all Spurs, Rockets, & Blazers win out the remaining games and Nuggets go 1-1. All Nuggets, Blazers, Rockets, Spurs will tie up with 54-28.

Under this scenario, Nuggets will win NW Division and Rockets will win SW Division. Rockets win the tie-breaker over Nuggets and Blazers over Spurs, it will end up:

    2. Rockets
    3. Nuggets
    4. Blazers
    5. Spurs

if you are in the 2-7 matchup and advance, you play the winner of the 3-6 matchup.

if you are in the 4-5 matchup and advance, you play the winner of the 1-8 matchup.

so, having either the 2 or 3 seed would not matter, as long as we prolong meeting the 1 seed until the WCF

If we held on to second and advanced we would play the winner of the 3/6 seed, and not play the Lakers until the WCF.

    1 Lakers
    8

    4
    5

    3 Hopefully us

as a Rockets fan you want the highest seed possible to get you homecourt throughout as many series as you can.

the games aren't played on paper. you gotta go out and earn each Playoff victory.

You've got to play hard, with the players you have on the floor, and you've got to stop making excuses and rationalizations to avoid certain teams.

you can't have one scenario that works for all Rockets fans.

Rockets fans want their team to win at all costs, not avoid a team at all costs.

    Man UP Rocket Fans

    give me 2, 3, 4 or 5.

    WIN THE FIRST ROUND

The Dallas game is huge in determining where the Rockets finish. If they win it, I think they get the #2 seed with Denver, Portland, and SA right behind them in the conference standings.

My prediction: Rockets vs. Hornets in round 1.
