Well the confusion on what is going to happen with our #1 continues, but if we DO take Ming, and <a href=http://bbs.clutchcity.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=34225">according to Doc Rocket</a>, that HAS been settled, (I think VERY highly of Doc, and I totally believe he is hearing what he is telling, but it wouldn't surprise me if the Rockets are using anyone they know who posts here as a media manipulant, so, I wouldn't be shocked if a trade still happens, close or on draft day...) , well, our next focus should be on who can we get and what do we need at #15.

So, I checked all the <a href="http://bbs.clutchcity.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=33461">latest mock drafts</a>, and here's who various draft prognosticators say will be there when we draft:

    • <a href="http://www.nbadraft.net/mock2002.htm">NBADraft.net</a>: (15) Stoudamire, Haislip, Ely, Marcus (38) Juan Dixon, Smush Parker, Tito Mattux, Fatih Solak, Lazarox Papadopouls, Darious Songalia, Nenad Krstic
    • <a href="http://collegebasketballnews.theinsiders.com/index.html?noredir=1">Monter's Draft News</a>: (15) Stoudamire, Nachbar, Ely, Haislip
    • <a href="http://www.insidehoops.com/nba_draft.shtml">Inside Hoops</a>: (15) Jeffries, Haislip, Ely, Nachbar, (second mock includes Marcus)
    • <a href="http://colbasketball.about.com/library/weekly/bl_mockdraft_021702.htm?PM=ss11_probasketball">About.com's Pro BasketBall</a>: (15) Stoudamire, Nachbar, Haislip, Ely, Marcus
    • <a href="http://www.sportsline.com/u/ce/feature/0,1518,5249732_54,00.html">CBS SportsLine - NBA Mock Draft</a>: (15) Hilario, Stoudamire, Jeffries, Nachbar
    • <a href="http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/basketball">CNN/SI Pro Basketball</a>: (15) Ely, Nachbar, Marcus, Haislip
    • <a href="http://www.sportingnews.com/nba/articles/draft2002/mockdraft.html">Sporting News Draft Preview</a>: (15) Borchardt, Haislip, Nachbar

    • <a href="http://www.msnbc.com/modules/sports/nbadraft02/mockdraft.asp?0cb=-31c81848">MSNBC's First Round Draft Predictions</a>: (15) Stoudamire, Jeffries, Nachbar
    • <a href="http://foxsports.lycos.com/named/Index/NBA">Fox Sports - NBA</a>: (15) Hilario, Nachbar, Rush, Haislip (another Fox mock) Stoudamire, Ely, Haislip, Rush
    • <a href="http://www.basketballnews.com/content/nba/nba_set.asp">BasketBallNews.com - NBA</a>: (15) Hilario, Ely, Jeffries, Nachbar, Haislip
    • <a href="http://www.fanstop.com/fanclub/NBAfans/article.asp?team=ALL&id=30575">Fan Stop - The NBA</a>: only goes through 13, but that would mean 1 of these wouldn't be here ... Stoudamire, Hilario, Haislip, Nachbar
    • <a href="http://www.suntimes.com/output/basketball/cst-spt-inside20.html">Chicago Sun Times 2002 NBA Mock Draft</a>: (15) Stoudamire, Nachbar, Ely, Haislip, Tskitishvilli
    • <a href="http://orlandosentinel.com/sports/basketball/magic/orl-sptnbadraft21052102may21.htmlstory?coll=orl-sports-headlines">Orlando Sentinel 2002 Mock Draft</a>: (15) Jeffries, Ely, Haislip, Nachbar
    • <a href="http://www.nbadraftreport.com/pr01.htm">NBA Draft Report w/John Thompson</a>: (15) Rush, Marcus, Nachbar, Hilario (Matt's) (15) Ely, Marchus, Hilario, Nachbar (38) Juan Dixon, Jiri Welsch, Steve Logan, Uche Nsonwu-Amadi
    • <a href="http://www.unc.edu/~lbrooks2/draftmain.html">LarryB's NBA BasketBall Draft Page</a>: (15) Stoudamire, Nachbar, Haislip, Jeffries
    • <a href="http://sports.espn.go.com/nbadraft/story?id=1382353">ESPN NBA DRAFT - Top 30 Prospects, by Andy Katz</a>: (15) Marcus, Rush, Ely, Nachbar

So, who do you think will be there, and who do you hope we would pick? (in case we don't trade the pick...)

Here's who I wish, in order, of who various mocks said might be there: Tskistishvilli (seriously doubt he'll drop that far), Hilario, Stoudamire, Borchardt, Nachbar, Ely, Haislip, Jeffries, Marcus, Rush.

Doing a little reading on Tskitishvili, ESPN.com called him "Quicker and more athletic than Dirk Nowitzki." If that's true, that's really impressive and hard to pass up.

Just say no to Chris Marcus, who along with Cato and Mo T could close down most buffets in the city.

Tsika will not drop from the top half of the lottery.

I think Tskitishvili would be my first choice but he will be gone before the 15th,my second choice would be Hilario, followed by Stoudamire,Nachbar, Jeffries,Borchardt,Ely,and Marcus.
Rush is a good player but we don't really need him.
If Woods drops here,we should take him.
Nenad Krstic could also be a dark horse if we want another center, but I would like to move down to get him.

First I think Sherlock should be commended for such a comprehensive post. Good work.

Second, if it was up to me, I'd probably either go with Stoudamire and let him learn with little playing time or with Nachbar. Currently, even though Stoudamire may have more long-term potential, though, I'm leaning towards Nachbar. From all accounts, he would perfectly fill a SF role for the Rockets in a manner very similar to a Stojakovich or Turkolu.

Which ever team takes either Nachbar or Hilario will have to deal with contract problems, that's why I think the Rockets might pass on either one of them, although I think both of them could be good future prospects for the team.

Krstic is only 18 and should be their in the second round but I would have no problem trying to grab one of the last 1st round spots and drafting him as opposed to waiting until the second round.

If we wait until the second round and then leave him in Europe for a couple of years to develope then he can negotiate a large contract if his play warrents it.

If we can somehow move up to one of the last first round spots then we can still leave him in Europe to develope but when he comes over his pay would be locked into a slot.

Krstic is suppose to have tons of tallent but he is still very raw. I would love to see the Rockets ship a couple of second rounders off to get a late first rounder and grab him for the future. He is a true 7 footer at only 18. He could be very special.

Thanks for the great information crash5179. ESPN has him projected going anywhere from the 21-28th pick.

If I were in CD or RT's shoes, I'd choose Nene Hilerio. From everything I've read, he is a banger. He can play a 4 or 5. He has a huge wingspand. The Rockets need to get a little grittier. The Rockets already have enough finesse players.

I'd take Tisk first, Nachbar second, and Jefferies first but I don't see any way they are gonna make it past 10 or at the farthest 12.
