About the only thing we know for sure going into the season is that Lin will be our starting point guard and more than likely Asik will either be our starting center or backup (assuming everything pans out from what I'm reading this morning and whether or not Dwight/Bynum come here). Also, Martin will more than likely be gone before the season starts and definitely by the trade deadline. With all of that, who do you think the Rockets will make a move for (either before the season starts or at the deadline) in order to bring in some veteran leadership to the table? Witih so many young guys, it's imperative we have someone with a Shane Battier presence (obviously not him). And don't tell me if we get Howard with Richardson/Hedo, etc. that it will be one of those guys and same thing with Bynum if we get him. I'm not sure who's still out there and who will be available at the deadline, but it got me thinking last night as I was checking the roster that we will definitely need some veteran leader. Thoughts?
If we don't pick up anyone before the season, it is looking like Kevin Martin. IF we do a trade for Howard and bad contracts it could be Quentin Richardson or Hedo Turkoglu. Either way IMO, we need better leadership, so maybe we can snatch a vet in FA that is at the end of their career but is a solid leader and works well in the locker room.
Unfortunately, most of you are right with those people if we get them. It seems like (at least through mid season), our "veteran" leader will be someone by default. I'm just wondering who is available that the Rockets want to bring in themselves (not via trade because of the taking on bad contracts) to help mentor some of these young guys for a 2-3 years.
