Do any of you guys see anybody from this current Rocket team retiring as a Rocket? I would like for Shane Battier to retire as a Rocket, but we all know he's not ready to stop playing and I don't think the Rockets are trying to hold onto him much longer.

Hopefully not Yao. Here's to a full recovery and long career!

Yes. I agree. I pray that he has a long and healthy career, but still retires as a Rocket :)

Agreed. Hopefully Yao isn't the next player to retire a rocket.

    Marcus Camby.

Yeah, yeah, I know, it's a stretch, but he's been on record saying he'd like to finish here in Houston (or something of the sort). I think Battier will get traded shortly, so probably won't finish as a Rocket, but he's probably my #2 candidate.

The question you should of asked was who will be the next Rocket to get their jerseys retired.

Good question. The only guy that I see not getting traded in the future is Yao.

A couple of seasons from now, the team may completely different, but if Yao isn't here, it will be because of injury or retirement.

I would like AB and Shane to retire as Rockets, but I don't have DM's mindset.

Yao unfortunately stands the chance of retiring early from another severe injury, rather than retiring on his own.

Yeah.. Guys like Yao, you just don't trade away. He's made Mr. Alexander too much money..

And I do hope at least one of the guys from our current roster gets their jersey retired.

Through all the debate about AB, I really would like him to have a good, long career as a Rocket. His game gets me so excited when watching.

The question is, why hasn't Mutombo's number been retired ?
Isn't a number usually retired the season after, so shouldn't it have been
    this year ?

Also, why hasn't any other organisation done it who Mutombo said promised him they would meaning the Nuggets and I believe either 76ers / Hawks.

He also said the Rockets vowed to retire his number.

I will say Yao probably, just because he is the oldest guy on the team that I don't ever see being traded.
he was a backup center here for a few years at the end of his career, why on earth would his jersey be retired? The only place it will probably be retired is Atlanta.

I'm not sure.. A couple days after his injury, someone on here started a petition to have his jersey retired...I'm pretty sure they should've done it by now.

Barring trades and not counting leaving to play in europe(Anderson):
    1) Battier
    2)Yao
    3)Scola

Since you're the genuis here, please enlighten me and the Rockets organisation as well why they vowed to retire his jersey ?

Maybe because he helped us in many ways, because he's a great human being. did a lot of good work outside the job, was part of the legendary 22 game winning streak, was there everytime Yao went down, went down like a soldier and sacrificing his body, sacrificed by coming back in 2009 when he could've gone to the Celtics and have a real shot at a championship thus staying loyal....need more ?
