This isn't another Who's Your Favorite Rocket thread, nor is it a question of who will be our best player this year...The question is, 4-5 years down the road, when we will be the Lords of the Rings, who do you think will be the main guy on the team...And please don't cop out with a compromise answer, ie. Yao + Steve...Virtually every modern champion has had a definable leader...Who will ours be?

I personally feel that Francis will be the leader, while Ming will be just as good, but not "the man." Ming will be one of the top 3 centers at the time (hopefully the top) but Francis will be the one leading the team.

Eddie will be the leader defensively. Cat should continue to be our main scorer offensively. Ming should be able to a little bit of everything.

But there is only going to be one main leader: The Franchise, of course.

i still voted for eddie just to show him some love :D

Francis will be the man on the team. Ming will be the second best player on the team.

Even if Francis'es points go down (assists go up), and Yao scores
25ppg (5 yrs from now), Francis will still be the leader.

You know what worries me? None of those guys look like leaders. Francis is spoiled. Mobley isn't quite talented enough. Ming has the Hakeem-problem. Eddie is too reserved.

I think we might have one of those teams in which the best player leads by example, and then there's a tough veteran who provides lockeroom leadership.

Sort of like Mario Elie with Hakeem.

If its going to be Steve Francis, then he has a lot of growing up to do! He must no longer be the selfish one, of previous seasons, but a renewed player dedicated to the team and to team basketball. Willing to sacrafice himself for the betterment of others on the Team! Can you see Steve Francis playing this role? I hope you can, because the future of the Rockets depends upon it! I think Yao Ming will play such an important role that he wiil even overshadow this great leadership given by Francis to his Team! YaoMing will be the 'Star'and Francis the 'Leader'.
