Well, cya R.C. you been great, just not the last few years. I been a Aggie fan all my life, my family went there and I live in College Station. Who do you think will replace R.C. as Head Coach? I hope it is Dennis Franchione (alabama coach, and coached at TCU before that). Some sources say that is is a done deal with Franchione, it is just not released yet. Anyway who do you think will replace him?

There have been rumers of Gary Kubiak the former Aggie quarterback and now offensive coordinator of the Denver Broncos, but I still think it has to be Franchione becasue he has not resign the contract Alabame just gave him, a 10 year deal worth 15 mil. Why would he not resign? And why would A&M fire R.C. right now before his contract and before the season is over, if they did not have a sercert or under the table deal going on with Franchione?

Well Franchione is sitting very pretty now.

He has a lot of leverage to use if he wants to get a better contract out of Alabama. Of course with all the sanctions placed on their program, I think he would be wise to walk.

Personally, I always thought Kubiak would be the choice when Slocum left. He's obviously being groomed to be a head coach up in Denver, and what's better than A&M for the former Ag?

It makes you wonder if Fran is trying to pull more money out of Bama. But, if they have more investigations or do not offer the bigger contract quick, he will be on his way to Collie Station.

For a while, I was backing Kubiak as the next replacement, but lately I've heard he is not a real "people, person", which you can get away with in the pro's, but in college, you have to be able to seal the deal in recruiting. I'm definitely a Fran guy now, or possibly a Mike Stoops guy if Fran is not available.

There you go, drapg! It's not exactly an IT job, but I'm sure it will put food on the table....

I'd bet alot of money on it being Franchione. Where there's smoke there's fire.

Isn't Alabama a more prestigious job than A&M?

Yes, under normal conditions Bama is a more prestigious job. However, the following are working against Bama.

    1) Probation - Was Franchione lied to about the severity of the probation? Will Bama face future penalties from the NCAA?

    2) Money - A&M is willing to make Franchione the highest paid coach in college football.

    3) Texas - Franchione had an escape clause to UT or A&M while at TCU. Fran and his wife miss Texas.

    4) Contract Length - Bama wants to lock Fran into a long-term deal with a poison pill. The pill is Fran cannot coach at another school for X years if he leaves Bama.

The Aggies are talking about it like it's a done deal. I hope they're right, because if it's true, they might just get hit with tampering :).

Just kidding, actually. If I had my way, Texas would be #1, and TAMU #2. Wouldn't that just kick ass if the UT-TAMU game was like the Florida-FSU game of old? Of course, UT would have to be #1...

    ...*wakes out of his reverie*

    Franchione is the odds-on candidate.

I'll just say the Aggies made a dumb move if they fired Slocum without Franchione in the wings. Why? Because Franchione is the only replacement worthy of taking over for RC. Who will the Ags hire? Davie? BWHAHAHAHAHA! Stoops? BWHAHAHAHAHA! Kubiak? BWHAHAHAHAHA! Get ready to be dominated by the Longhorns for the next 5 years.

The only man who will drive fear in Austin is Fran.

I dunno - I wouldn't want to be surrounded by a Stoops both South and North of us, either.

Greg Davis inspires fear. Oh, yes, he does. I don't know what I'd do if the Aggies hired him away. His offensive genius combined with the mystical powers of the fearsome Wrecking Crue would be an unstoppable duo unseen since the days of Bear Bryant. Not only that, but it'd cripple Vincent Young to deprive him of the Master QB developer responsible for the rapid development of Chris Simms. Reggie would win the Heisman 3 times, minimum.

Fear Greg Davis as an Aggie. Maybe we should fire Mack and promote Greg as a pre-emptive strike.

I think B/CS is further north than Austin. Now, if you're talking about Mike Stoops taking over in San Marcos, I have no problem with that.

I highly doubt Little Stoops would be able to duplicate the success of his brother. Of course, there's something about the Stoops brothers that intimidates Brown.

Geography never was one of my strong suits...

How about East and North of us? There are some other Stoops brothers, aren't there? Perhaps some of them could take over SWT, and maybe Houston and Baylor as well.

Just out of curiosity, do we really know Mike Stoops should be feared?

Oddly, I'd be more afraid of Mike Leach with a good defensive coordinator. I assume he'd take the job.

I don't like Mack Brown, but I don't want him to commit suicide either. That, and it'd be embarassing to have a coach who has to wear depends on the sidelines at least three times a year.

On a brighter note the Bobcats would surely beat UT.
