I am wondering who will be our best 6th man for the next season. Mike James,Steve Francis or maybe Bonzi Wells,Luther Head? Or do you think there will be a chemistry problem with this spot on team along with starting PG?
I expect big things out of Bonzi Wells with his old coach Adelman in charge. Then again I had high hopes last year too, and we all know how that worked out last year.
I put my big hopes in Bonzi Wells. He has something to show. He had a terrible season last year but now with Adelman I expect a big season for him.
Scola Y'all are gonna yell at me now. JK though. I do think Scola will come off the bench. But I expect Wells to be the man off the bench.
Doubt Scola will come off the bench. All we got is Hayes and Landry. Hayes is good for NO MORE then 20mpg off the bench a night and Landry will probably be thrown into the D-League. Bonzi Wells will be our 6th man playing the 2/3 spot with Mike James being the 7th guy and Luther Head the 8th. i expect about 20-25 mins from Wells and James and abour 12-15 mins from Luther
6) Bonzi Wells 7) Mike James 8) Luther Head 9) Chuck Hayes 10) Dikembe Mutombo 11) Aaron Brooks wow, so much deeper than last year
I think it will be Francis. i think james is gonna start, while francis will probaly be the 1st sub followed by bonzi.
I have my doubts about Bonzi but it's either him or the non-starter between SF & MJ. You could bet a million dollars it won't be Luther.
Interesting question, actually, and one I believe will be answered by the mysteriously created 'chemistry' factor. Will mj or Stevie mesh better with Bonzi, who will likely start games on the bench. Will the b/u 1 and 2 enter together? Can Brooks' darting speed mesh on court with Yao? Will Hayes or Battier get more time at the 4? (Will Landry be 'farmed' out for a year of seasoning (I hope so)? Who might need to be included in a Rafer deal, assuming RA remains free and some team's needs exceed our wants to be rid of the Skipper? Might the 2nd in a deal be a possible 6th man (Luther, Bonzi)?
Luther Head. He averaged 11 ppg on .584 TS% last year. For all of his weaknesses, his ability to score efficiently puts him at the top of the bench on virtually every team in the league.
Well, it depends on the starting line-up. If Francis starts then it will be Bonzi. If James starts it will be Francis.
i will be the first one to say this, but the best 6th man next season for houston rockets would be shane 'friggin' battier! we could very well start a lineup of SF, BONZI, T-MAC (his natural 3 position), SCOLA, YAO shane can come in as sub for T-Mac and Luis and play a good 30 minutes or so. with shane's limited scoring ability, this is probably a more suitable role for him. now, who's with me?
Bonzi is a flake and should NOT be relied on. Shane is a great defender and efficient scorer who makes good decisions. Coaches like guys like guys like that and we will need his 3pt shooting, especially if SF3 is our starting PG(which I doubt). Every great team has a floor burn hustle guy and Shane is that guy.
I'm sorry but that is just stupid. Shane is the only one that brings consistent defensive energy everyday and you want to put him on the bench? Not to mention he is the perfect roll player/shooter to surround Yao and Tmac with. And you dont really want someone with a limited scoring ability to be coming of the bench.
i agree. i hope francis isnt starting. as he said, we will need 4 basketballs to go around. him and bonzi can be 6th and 6th 1/2 man.
