    A pretty simple poll.

    1. Houston/Texas area means you are from Houston or originated in Houston (could be in college during those years outside of houston)

    2. Outside Houston/Texas means you weren't a Houstonian or Texan

Fascinating. Another thread to weed out who's a Yao Ming fan.

    Wicked clever, brah.

No, its a poll cause some people have only seen the Barkley era on Youtube.
Just seeing the demographics of who remembers this era.

It wasn't that long ago, not like the Calvin Murphy days.

I became a fan when the Rockets acquired Barkley. I lived in Arizona when Barkley played for the Suns. A couple of years after moving to Texas, the Rockets traded for Barkley and I've been a fan ever since.

I know Sir Charles isn't the most popular guy around here due to his past comments about the Rockets, but I still love him. It's funny how our fans can get so pissed at a guy for "hating" on the Rockets when he's pretty much been right. I always hope that he's wrong about the Rockets not being a contender, but the cold hard facts are that we still haven't made it out of the first round with the current crop of players.

It's easy to knock Barkley for being a selfish guy...but AFAIK, he's the only mainstream sports superstar that's taken a significant paycut during a free agent year to help his team have a better shot at the title. (unfortunately we signed that b*stard with the money saved.)

Yes! I thought we were destined to win a championship that year!.. Uhh until we ran into Stockton and Malone.

We traded half our championship team for Barkley, I'd say he still owes us.

Barkley did play better than Pippen did when he was here.

the Barkley trade was one of the most significant trades in Rockets history

    it's up there with

    Steve/Cuttino - Tmac
    Otis Thorpe - Drexler

not in retrospect, for one season maybe. and what advantage we gained over seattle, we gave up against utah. I will say this, we beat seattle, which is what he was brought here for.

I don't know if 4 yrs here can be called an "Era" but it was the last time we were out of the first round.

Although I was a fan pre-Barkley, I didn't stumble across the site that would become Clutchfans until the trade talks started w/ Phoenix - about a week before the actual trade went down.

Horry was a liability vs Kemp, but who would have figured Kemp would have been neutralized by hamburgers?

I could have swore Tom Brady took a couple of paycuts to help his team.

Also while not a superstar, Cat took less to play here.

Oh and word on the street is Roy O is trying to rework his deal to help the 'Stros get more help.

I do appreciate it and while it is rare, he isn't the only one.

But it was an amazing deal by him to do it.....he probably left about 6 - 8 million on the table to do it.

Do you think Tmac would do it? I guess we will find out in 2 years.
