I was all about to show something my favorite candidate did wrong, and then I thought, "Gee? I'm quite certain NO Republican has ever done everything I've wanted." The ironic part is, to Bj, to Deckard, to Mcmark, et.al is that we choose a siderather than beliefs. I went on the Dems. side in Houston and I was screwed. I'm still not too happy about it. The ironic part is a very good friend of mine was being rejoiced as a new contender by one of the side's masses simply because he could speak well. Right before he was able to get me a nice Gov't paying job as TABC guy, he got in trouble himself, which lost him the nomination. Think about it, people... Fatty is in charge of Gov't. in Texas! As odd as that sounds, I was fairly close, and that is the point. (There needs to be MAJOR regulations with "if you want your buddy here, he has to have this degree, combined with "this" amount of training.) And I can tow the ropes. When the mayoral election was going on, I wanted a democrat, sorely due to Lanier's blatant corruption, combined that he had a beef with Bud Adams, so he made it a "him vs. I" campaign? There were ways to appease Bud, dumbass! Thew Oilers shuold've never left! And I put that on Dumbass Lanier's shoulders. This came down to a golden boy who put $25,000 down in 1959 and asked us for near $500,000 million. Advantage=douche. You also have a mayor who literally doubled our traffic time in a decade by stopping Whitmire's rail system. Douche #2. It is truly time that we stop talking about what "offends" us and what "we don't like" and more upon what we want, and, more appropriately, what we should expect from our Government. Last I checked, it was the PURSUIT of love, liberty, and happiness. There was no Constitutional plan of a "gift basket." And I abhor people who think otherwise. Look, I live in an area where there are homeless people constantly. If you live in Kingwood, et. al., kudos. But the fact is you don't see the same freaking people bugging you every day. I'm sure y'all will come up with some good barbs about this, but there are only soooo many times you can see a person on the streets where you just say no. And these days, I really try to look into the guys eyes. I still give about a third of them some cash, but it really just allows them to keep begging. Woah. Let me edit this... We will never get our beloved Oilers back. (In fact, I used to have an Oilers vs. Cowboys Helmet on our credenza as you walked into the ROOM back in my college days at Tech) But I'll tolerate that if my Helmet is good enough for the Tyler Rose, it's good enough for me. However, I can't have an Oilers vs. Texans staring at each other. Ponder ponder. Deep down, we all know who we want...
Bingo. Well said. We are free to pursue life, liberty and happiness. It does NOT guarantee an outcome. It merely states that we are free to pursue those things. It merely ensures that government will not stand in the way of a person's pursuits...it does not guarantee them that these things they pursue will be attained.
but when government is used to advantage certain segments surely that is against the constitution right? so when some neighborhoods have a lot more crime, a lot more violence, a lot more gangs, a lot more drugs, a lot worse schools, a lot worse teachers...shouldn't we try to fix that? that many of the most important qualities people can have is to have hope as children which the kids growing in these situations are deprived of. add to that that many of the people in those neighborhoods have been discriminated against historically by the government in one way or another. or the fact that since we do live in a civilized democracy...we appreciate a special need to help children since their parents circumstances should not completely screw them over...we might need to help those children with a bit more in order to ensure that they are at an equal playing field with those of us who are able to pursue those things. ps: giving someone basic healthcare, shelter, food, grade school education and clothes is not giving them a gift basket. its giving them an opportunity to pursue a life that is advantageous to all of us. and those of us who are too damn myopic (nevermind the fact that they are digsustingly selfish) can take solace in the fact that if there are more educated healthy adults...there will be a bigger market to sell stuff to. i can't wait for democrats to take over the government and make me more taxes to ensure a higher level of care for those less fortunate.
Some of you guys need to move to the third world - the land of no guarantees or gift baskets. You will be very happy there.
