yeah i heard the rockets are leasing cato out to sports radio 610 sponsors for manual labor... so you can now get your car washed at bubble's car wash by cato, and he can help put up your new basketball goal from hoops, inc.

    jiggyness,

    This just in:

Houston trades Scottie Pippen to Portland for Stacey Augmon, Kelvin Cato, Ed Gray, Carlos Rogers, Brian Shaw, and Walt Williams.

Houston - The Houston Rockets have been interested in moving Kelvin Cato since, oh, about a week after they signed him to a seven-year, $42 million contract. Well, for the past three and a half seasons no on has been too interested in taking on his contract and his "perennial project" style of play, but the Rockets do have a taker now. Unfortunately, the offer on the table would only make bad matters worse. Meanwhile the Rockets travel to Atlanta to exact some revenge on the Hawks.

    jiggyness, thank you.

that's a terrible, terrible way to tease people...saying that the rockets have a taker, and not naming who that taker is (team name at least) or might be.

the only way i can see "making a bad situation worse" is by trading for a similarly paid player that 1) produces less and 2) has a longer term deal.

honestly, i cannot think of a person that fits that description. nothing against cato, because i think he has played outstanding ball this season. however, if you look at production v salary, he still is not what you'd consider a "bargain".

unless you can move cato for another serviceable big man and another player, you might as well keep him.

Cato is not going anywhere. He's played great this year in his role. The team needs more players willing to play their role and not get bent out of shape about it.
