so early voting has started... who voted, and which gubernatorial candidate did you vote for? Kinky for me. if you have not voted yet, aren't planning on voting, aren't eligible to vote in Texas.... please refrain from voting in this poll. i should have made it a public poll to keep people honest.
Anyone hearing anything about early voting numbers? Kinky's people had a short article on facebook the other day about counties increasing their votes 60% thus far in comparison to last. (Including Harris)
Voted for Bell last night. Coin flip between him and Kinky and hoped Bell would have the best chance to upset Perry. As long as no Perry, I will be happy
Day 1: Was an increase of 60% over last - I don't have exact #'s. Day 2: Last governor's election = 3,984, This year (yesterday) = 9,722. That is a HUGE increase. EDIT: These are Harris Co. only
http://www.kinkyfriedman.com/2006/10/early_voting_record_turnout.html Bexar County 2002 - 5171 2006 - 8591 Percent Increase - 66% Harris County 2002 - 5322 2006 - 8545 Percent Increase - 60% Travis County 2002 - 4626 2006 - 5009 Percent increase - 8% Dallas County 2002 - 8172 2006 - 9129 Percent increase - 12% that's an additional 8000 people to vote early... i wonder how many of that number voted in 2002. that is what the real outcome will depend on, # of new voters.
I voted for Kinky. I don't know about Orange County, where I'm from, but the local news reported yesterday that early turnout was down slightly from 2004 when there was a record high.
OTOH, you could probably argue that if all the people who have an inkling and want to vote for Kinky but are afraid to because he might not win and vote Bell instead, actually DO go ahead and vote Kinky, we might see some suprising results. Are there any early voter rules or can you just go and vote?
rimrocker - do you think kinky and strayhorn are playing the perot/nader roll in this election regarding bell and perry? and which candidate is syphoning off more vote from the bloods and crypts? i.e. strayhorn taking votes from perry and kinky taking votes from bell? also, why is it people are more concerned with the votes kinky is getting as opposed to those strayhorn is getting?
All I want is to see Perry defeated. To that end, Kinky taking votes that would normally go to Bell is more important to me. With Strayhorn in the mix, there's a golden opportunity to make a change that might not otherwise be there. I don't begrudge anyone voting for Kinky because they want to vote for Kinky, but I do think that if your primary motivation is change then that's a wasted vote that would carry more weight going to Bell.
This part was edited in after I voted and I didn't carefully read the original poll question. Sorry bout that. One of those Bell votes is mine. Feel free to subtract it from the tally.
thats fine, this whole thing is jacked anyway appearantly, my good texas education didn't teach me how to count how many days it is until the election. (the poll ends a day early)
I would think Kinky would have a better shot than Bell, so you could argue that you're wasting your vote by voting for Bell. Texas is a republican state -- all those Republicans Perry has pissed off would probably feel better voting for Kinky than a democrat. Either way, I hope one wins.
i'd like to point out those are of likely voters, and not the demographic that kinky is targeting like first time voters and students. which appear to be working, seeing how smu and unt papers have both endorsed kinky
I secretly want to vote for Werner, but I'd put to shame everything that I know if I didn't vote for Perry.
