It has been reported that TMac feels like the fans turned their back on him. I would agree that at this point today the majority of the fans and the Rox organization has indeed, but I would say that minus the haters (every star is always going to have some) for the most part the fans and org. were very supportive of him until this last bit of drama. I was a huge TMac fan and supporter. I don't doubt that he feels like his knee is unplayable. BUT the way he has handled it has screwed the organization over BIG time. He basically gave us a giant F U, so of course there is going to be some backlash now. My question for the populus is this: Who turned their back first?? And this is the general population overall, I am not talking abotu the people on here that Hate no matter what or Love no matter what, just in general the opinion of the fans. I already stated I think TMac brought it on himself with the most recent shenanigans.

I don't care if every person in the world hates you, if you get paid 23 mill to play basketball you better be motivated to win.

man give it a freakin rest! He makes 21mil. He dont need fan or organization or watever to get him fired up to play. If someone pay me 21mil to go to work...I'll wake up at 3am everyday. Stop with the excuses already.

I am not asking whether it is a REASONABLE excuse or not, jsut whether as a whole we quit on him before or after he quit on us.

He should know what fans are like and shouldn't care what we say about him. But people are human and even pro athletes have feelings. At the end of the day, he knows how to win fans back. But its up to him to do that. Fans aren't just going to feel sorry for him and come back.

First off let me say I was a huge supporter of TMAC and fought off haters at every turn. He freaking brought it in the playoffs.

But I am now done with him.

With that said the Rockets crapped all over him first for sure.

They claimed 2 months or so to recover from his operation. TMAC said the doctors told him 6 and Matt Bullard also said 6-7 is what he was told (Bull had this along with 4 other knee surgery)

They claimed 1 week out after he talked to Anderson. TMAC said Anderson told him 3.

They were trying to sell this as being no big deal and "Please buy our tickets cause WE ARE GONNA WIN!"

They threw the first punch. But that is no excuse for his current behavior.

Man, in the end, us fans are helpless, right? What difference does it make what WE do?? I tell you what, I went to a LOT of the games last year during the streak, and that stadium has never been louder. Was he accusing us of turning our backs then? All we have EVER wanted was consistent effort, and a desire to win. If you get hurt, then you get hurt....how come nobody dogs Yao for effort and attitude? He's been hurt just as much as T-Mac, but the difference is he doesn't sit there and not rehab, and then go to Vegas, and give off this air of "I'm the best, so get off my back" that T-Mac does. Regardless of whether we turned our backs on him, we freaking pay for the seats, and trust me, the money we spend on those tickets means a LOT more to us than it does to him. For him to pin this on the FANS is a low-blow, and a cheap shot at the people who have done nothing but support him since he's been here. He's seriously burned every single bridge he's had in this city, and now, if he remains here, he better be prepared to get booed. How would he like THAT for support? Good job, McGrady.

He's been given a major pass for far too long. He has delivered absolutely nothing that matters (see post-season success) and has not worked as hard and been as dedicated as his own talent demands. He will always be that guy with a lot of potential but precious little in the way of results. Or as we say in Texas, all hat and no cattle.

The guy got more second chances in Houston than he deserved. Even I chose to forget some of the stunts he pulled starting in his second season here. To me, that's when he started showing his true colors but his talent made all that easy to forget or at least hard to admit.

Collectively, I think Rocket fans and the city of Houston were on his side until this season. Maybe like me, they knew who he really was all along but didn't want to admit it. Let's face it. The guy was so talented he could erase weeks or months of questionable effort or ridiculous excuses in one game. One good "Tmac" game was so impressive you couldn't help but imagine what it would be like if he could do that in the big games with a healthy team.

Sadly, we now realize more than ever that Tmac thrives when the pressure is off but when it's crunch time he is looking to pass both the ball and the responsibility.

I agree with all that, and that's why I, as a season ticket holder, am actually incredibly pissed off at the organization. In the end, for them , it was all about ticket sales. Screw honesty, and being up front with the players AND the fans. But, at the same time, not only did McGrady sabotage his teammates, but he also sabotaged the city, and the people. I think both parties are to blame for this fiasco, and it's really disheartening to know that other teams out there aren't going through this. It's also disheartening to know that we could have gotten a piece to really help us NOW, but instead, it seems like it's another year down the drain where we struggle to make it out of the first round.

For example: back to back game. First the Phily, next night VS. Celtic.

Phily night: T-WACK "I'm definately going to play tonight. I feel real good. no pain"

    Next night vs. Celtic:
T-WACK "my pain is worse than it seems. It's hurt. I'm going to shut it down."

I failed to see WHY Rockets would do this to one of their top players.

Also I believe at the beginning of season, TMac tried to play through his rehab several times but somehow all his "efforts" wound up to be sub-par performance on court. And that's when most of the fans turned against him.

For me, I used to shrug off all those claims regarding "heart", "mental" etc. but I am not so sure right now.

According to a summary of the JVG interview (I didn't personally get to listen) TMac felt the fans had turned their back on him and then from his interview that has been all over ESPN where he is talking about all the "people" out there who are doubting his injury... that is what I was referring to.
