Short answer, no one. It's a seller's market, and we'd be fools to panic and overpay for a second tier free agent. .
First order of business is to resign Scola and Lowry.... After that... Raja Bell would be a Low Risk - High Reward guy who can play defense, and hit the open 3. He would blend in perfectly in RA's system. Can probably be had on the cheap. Brad Miller, obviously would be Low Risk - High Reward also and insurance in case Yao goes down again. Knows RA's system. Ben Wallace wouldn't be a bad option off the bench to give spot minutes for the Veteran Minimum. At the least, he'd be another defensive presence in the middle. Ideally, i would like Brendan Haywood backing up Yao, but he's probably going to make more than $6-7 mil/year and since we're already over the cap, we would need to move some pieces around to bring him here...and of course.. he would WANT TO be here to backup YAO...which i doubt he would wanna do.
We resign Scola and Lowry and try to get B Miller for a backup C. That is all we need. We watch our young guys develop in summer league in a couple days. Maybe Morey has a other ideas about the roster, but I guess we will find out after the trade is made. As usual with that smart fella. He is waaaay better than us at knowing how to build our team.
I like the idea of trading for Jefferson and signing Von Wafer. There may be another hole or two to fill depending on what we have to give up for Jefferson, but as long as Yao can play 20-25 minutes a game, this team does not need a massive overhaul.
I would say Chase Budinger fits the description. i dont think anyone else does at this point. Jermaine Taylor has shown glimpses, but needs to be more consistent.
Jefferson for Jeffries + Andersen + Picks? Wolves get picks and expiring contracts. With Jefferson, that's a pretty legit team. Brooks Martin Ariza Jefferson Yao Scola comes in for Yao and will get starter minutes.
http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/3832 Simple. Minny wants out of that contract. It's not even that bad. 3 yrs/39 mil, and he'll be only 28 when it's over, albeit on a injured knee from the 2008-2009. I think regardless of where he plays, this guy puts up his 07/08 numbers.
