If the Rockets get the number 1 pick, who should we draft.
While there has been other threads similar to this, I wanted a poll to show who clutchfans wanted most.

If they're lucky enough to get it, they need to trade it for sure. Thomas doesn't impress me, Aldridge is a few years away from having any impact, Morrison plays the same position as our best player, and taking Roy #1 wouldn't be getting maximum value for the pick.

we need carney, so we'd have a good 2/3, so either tmac can move to the two or carney can play the two

Redick as SG so he can drop those open threes he will get with T-Mac and Yao on the floor.

I'd be incline to trade it also but I wonder what type of value the overall #1 will be worth this year. Would it get us Josh Childress/Pietrus type value or something higher or even lower?

But since the thread is about who I'd select, I guess I'll go with Rudy Gay as he fills our biggest need and I'm really uncertain about Aldrigde and Thomas. Morrison I think will be the ROY but hes not the type of player who needs one suited to him and I just dont believe he would fit here. If I were the Warrors or the Bulls, portland or Minnesota etc I would take Morrison. Again I've only watch a couple of games with Aldridge and Thomas, so I've no clue whatsoever about how they might do in the nba.

They should draft the player with the highest trade value for an experienced impact player.

Lo and Behold, the Reddick Only Fan.

OF COURSE, (as i expected), someone mentioned reddicks name. EVEN though theres very good chance he'll still be available when our second pick(early 2nd rounder) comes around..................

As silly as what he said was, the fact that you think he'll be around in the 2nd round is just as silly, if not moreso. What the hell's a Reddick only fan anyway? Bc of the whole YOF thing? That was kind of a special circumstance and you can't really apply it to any player you want to to make a bad joke.

I'd say go with Aldridge, but I think I'd be happier with a #3 pick because I know we really need a Gay, Roy, Carney, Morrison much much more. Aldridge isnt as far away from contributing as some of you think. He's got an NBA body and some good post moves, solid rebounder.

I understand some if not most of us would trade the pick, but this poll is about who we would draft, so please select a player. ANd Others is not an option for trade! :p

    Interesting picks so far!

For those who selected others, I was wondering who those players would be? Please do not select others if you are thinking trade!

I picked aldridge because i love his game and he is going to be a great compliment player to somebody, but i agree if we do win it, we need to trade down for sure, that pick probably is going to have a lot of value this year and i think we could get some experianced talent for it. WE NEED A SHOOTER!!!

    hey hey (hay hay) genius....

Obviously, the ROF is a spinoff of the YOF.. i mean.... DUHHHH?! doesn't take a genius to figure that out...

With the #1 pick I'd take Aldridge just because he's an instant asset. But theres no way we're going to get the #1 pick anyway.. With a top 3 pick I'd take Rudy Gay.. More realistically we'll be stuck with the 8th pick... Hopefully Brandon Roy is available when we're on the clock.. I feel has much more upside than someone like Reddick..

And yes a one dimensional player such as Reddick, who is not exceptionally quick or physically gifted, can EASILY slide into the second round.. But on the flipside, given his impressive resume, a contending team may nab him late in the first round for his shooting..

That's insane man! Not to sound mean or anything but early second round - there is no way in hell will that happen. I predict that J.J. will be taken somewhere in the top 20 or middle pack of the first round.

It would be awesome to take him in the 2nd round with our pick - if somehow he gets to the second round. :D Some teams are looking for a pure shooter - and im sure J.J. Redick will be long gone before that happens. I know J.J. is a one dimensional player - but with his shooting abilities - many teams want him.

    I chose other.

Trade the pick for an impact player already in the league. Could the number one pick get us Chris Bosh? I don't know but I would would certainly investigate it.

If I could not trade the number 1 for an impact player already in the league then I would look at trading down but staying into the lottery to try and get an extra early second round pick. and try to get Brandon Roy or maybe even Adam Morrison with my 1st pick. Kevin Pittsnogle, Steve Novak and PJ Tucker are players I would shoot for with my two second round picks.

I don't think any of the players in the draft are going to live up to the hype of a number 1 all around pick, but I do think the draft has some good players early and some good specialists in the rest of the draft but mostly just role players and not individual impact players.

Though he will take a few years to develop I think we would have to take Aldridge.

Trade the 1st pick n Swift to Indiana for JO'Neal.

With yao and O'Neal in the low post while T-mac running on the wings, is all over!!!! :D

Can this make it to the classic quote??

JO makes a ton of money. and he's kinda prone to getting injured. i dunno if it'd be wise to tie up our entire cap to Yao, Mac, & JO, considering how to' up JO and Mac are.

i say we draft Thomas, b/c he holds the most value as trade bait, then trade him down to whoever is choosing Roy, for Roy + ___, be it a 1st rounder, a 2nd rounder, a future protected 1st rounder, a future 2nd rounder, or some player that could help us. i say that we draft a $hitload of players this summer -
