With Yao out and Shaq heading East, who do you think is most deserving for this role?

Well, with Shaq out of the way Amare will probably be considered a center.

So, it will probably be him...even though it should be Al Jefferson.

    Duncan?

Spurs could use a small line-up.

    Duncan
    RJ
    Ginobili
    Finley
    Parker

Gasol? Technically speaking Gasol could already be considered the top big man in the West. If the league can put Dirk on SF when he plays pf full time then I see no problem with Gasol being put on the C slot:

    C: Gasol
    PF: Duncan
    SF: Dirk
    SG:Kobe
    PG:Cp3
    ^Looks about right to me...

Blake Griffin if he plays C

    If not, then Al Jefferson

Gasol, Duncan, Dirk, would be my starting frontcourt. Just start the 3 best players, Duncan and Gasol can both play 4 and 5.

Duncan but the NBA might just put Amare in the Center position in which He could get the vote for starting center.

Amare will be my guess. Chandler will be my choice.

Al Jefferson should provided he plays as well and has no injury. But most likely it will wind up being Gasol.

Unfortunately, it doesn't work that way. Fan voting determines who starts, and the rules require that (unless he gets injured and the All-Star Team coach gets to choose his replacement) the starting center MUST come from the list of designated "centers" listed on the All-Star ballot. While I agree that Gasol or Duncan would be good choices, they will both probably be listed as Forwards. Gasol, due to the presence of Andrew Bynum. And Duncan, because he's a wuss who never wants to be labeled a "center". But maybe this year he'll ask to be listed as a "center", at least on the All-Star ballot.

I'm thinkin it'll be wither Tim Duncan or Amare Stoudamire, just depends on whether the league puts them under C or the PF category.

Based upon the responses, I think we should just remove the position of "center" from basketball and do like football does it with 3 linebacker sets... sam, will, mike or strong, weak, middle. Have 2 named PF positions.
