I know there was a thread about this, but no poll.
Kinda like a crappy strip club.

Playoffs, last minutes of the 4th in a tight game, who do you trust to take the game winner?

I pick Shane (he's the most dependable shooter and most likely open at the end of the game)

Depends on the team and mis-matches, I wouldn't want T-Mac to put one up over Bowen when Elson is on Yao.. Just like I don't want Yao to put one up over Dwight Howard when Keith Bogans is on T-Mac.

But if the opposing team is great defensively and your in the last minute (thus time to create a shot) I'd hope that Rick would put in 5 guys who can shoot and I would say the one guy who is open should take the shot.

My 5 guys would probably be something like this since Novak is now in the d-league

    Yao
    Scola
    Battier
    Head
    T-mac

    or

    Yao
    Battier
    Head
    James
    T-Mac

Scola right now is money from anywhere inside the three point line, if he's open and un-hesitant when shooting I vote that Scola takes the shot!! With T-Mac initiating of course

EDIT : To the guy who voted Rafer Alston, thanks for the laugh!! (we all know it was probably rafer himself who made that vote)

depends on who has the hot hand
depends if we are winning or losing
if its the last play depends what we need: a three or two point shot.

The real question is who do we want to initiate the play. Answer: Tracy. If the defense allows him to finish, that is best because the risk of a TO is minimized. If the defense allows him to get the ball to Yao in the low post, that is 2nd best. If the defense forces him to dish out to the perimeter, I would prefer a corner 3 from Shane or an elbow jumper from MJ.

T-Mac, but give him the option to shoot or pass if they try to 5 on 1 him.

If it goes to a 3 point shooter in the corner, Battier or Head are the only choices. If he finds a big man, better be Scola.

If I were picking the Old Rockets, then I'd pick Maxwell in any situation.
for the Post Vernon - Horry. Post Horry - Cuttino.

Yeah, that turnaround 35 ft 3 pointer vs the Spurs was something else.

    The open player....

Often it is the role player that takes the shot.

    Remember:

    Mad Max
    Cassel
    Horry
    Kenny
    Paxson
    Kerr

Very often it is NOT the star.....that is why you can not have Rafer and Chuck Hayes on the floor...at the end....got to have 5 people capable of making a play.

that's if one of your stars is a center, remember Magic, Reggie Miller, Isiah, and Bird were clutch.

I'm having more faith in Scola though. I think he's showing some guts lately. I have a feeling he'll hit a game winner for us ..

Chuck Hayes - because nobody will guard him, he's wide open. :D

Yao has been pretty damn clutch when he gets the ball though. Problem is once he makes a few the defense adjusts and we can't ever go to him for the last shot, so it goes to whoever's open.

I'd be surprised to see him as our finisher though, especially in light of Scola's improved play of late.

I like Hayes as a starter, but not necessarily as a finisher.

I like Deke, but if he's taking the last shot for a win, we're in trouble.

Yao. He's the best free-throw shooter and he is the highest % - shooter.
