...and this is for any game (not just the Memphis game). It seems like Yao will get better chances of scoring at that time than T-Mac. He's down low, creates his move in the paint, and can draw the foul (if he is aggressive to the basket). T-Mac, on the other hand, if he doesn't jack up shots, can drive and initiate the foul. Who do you think should take over?
2 minue left. I will Tmac get the ball, let him run the offense. But definitely Yao needs to get touches.
It depends on the game situation. How are our players playing up to that point? How are the opponents defending us? There's just no black and white answer that we should run plays for a particular player down the stretch.
yao will turn the ball over...........mac needs the ball he is clutch not say yao isnt but mac gots my vote!!!!!!!!!!
Michael Jordan Come on this is a bogus poll. We all know Yao will win this hands down once China wakes up. So while it is a legitimate question with arguments on both sides no poll results will matter because it is a tainted sample. That being said I would pick Yao but it is not an absolute. Going down low late in the game opens up so many other options and Yao has proven to be clutch late in the game. But it is hard to argue against Tmac when he is on fire and he has been at times. The real thing is if anyone else would step up during the other 46 minutes the last 2 minutes wouldn't be so important. We haven't blown out 1 team yet. Every contest has been a challenge. Come on Rafer James Battier Scola and Bonzi hit a f*%#ing shot!
I agree with the Tmac/Yao pick and roll. No matter what, one of them should be taking it to the basket strong. The game last night turned at the end when it was tied and Tmac and everyone else for that matter started shooting jumpers.
Both Yao and Tmac. Not one or the other.... Two times the threat gives the defense twice the problems
I can't understand why anybody would think it should be a one or the other situation. You give it to whoever has the best chance to score, whether that's Yao, Tracey, or Aaron Brooks.
Protecting a lead: Yao in the post Recovering a lead: McGrady on the wing, attacking the rim Worst thing you can do when down in a tight game is become a jump shooting team. Best thing you can do in a tight game whether leading or trailing is force them to foul. Evan
Simple: whoever's got the hot hand. But if we ever need someone to shoot clutch free throws for us, we all know Yao's gonna do it, and make it. But our two stars can't do it alone, as shown by last night's game. Someone else has to make the little but game-changing plays like taking a charge/ getting a rebound/ or simply make smart decisions. Mike James killed us last night because he wouldnt make the smart play and give the ball to Tmac or Yao. Instead, he drove into a crowd and missed it when we were down 6 of 7.
In the rare situation's in which teams will play Yao one on one I say Yao, but I voted T-Mac because Yao is a TO machine and no one can stop T-Mac from going to the basket and when he is commited to getting inside the paint good things happen in the form of free throws and high % shots for either Mac or Yao
T-Mac, cause he can make the play that makes the difference. He's so good at making the right pass to an open shooter or to Yao, and otherwise, he can attack the basket.
