'The Late Late Show' Seeking New Host 49 minutes ago Top Stories - AP NEW YORK - "The Late Late Show" is asking four guest hosts to stay a little longer. Actors Craig Ferguson and Michael Ian Black, comedian D.L. Hughley and MTV "Total Request Live" host Damien Fahey have been invited back for one-week tryouts as host of the CBS late-night talk show, which is searching for a replacement for Craig Kilborn. Ferguson is up first, starting next week, followed by Hughley, Fahey and Black. Fahey will have to make the quickest impression. He drew Thanksgiving week, when there will be only three shows. The talk show, which follows the "Late Show With David Letterman," is produced by Letterman's company, Worldwide Pants. Tom Keaney, spokesman for Worldwide Pants, said the four semifinalists were among the 20 people who filled in on the show this fall. Worldwide Pants hopes to announce its selection next month, Keaney said Thursday. Kilborn left at the end of August, saying he wanted to pursue writing and producing other TV projects. His decision to leave the talk show after five years caught the network by surprise.
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=514&e=8&u=/ap/20041105/ap_on_en_tv/late_show Link for above post. I never saw Craig Kilborne. I dont watch much late night tv except for Jon Stewart. I would consider watching it if Michael Ian Black were chosen though.
They should just put that show out of it's misery. Kilborn (along with the show) is so unfunny and so unoriginal that it's just painful to watch. Same with Jimmy Kimmel. Very much NOT funny. How many David Letterman clones do we really need? The only redeeming value that show has is good musical guests. Turn it into a music show.
Bleah. Four guys (I really wanted to see a female get a shot). Michael Ian Black is the funniest, but his interview skills are suspect. I hope the MTV Carson Daly-wannabe falls out quickly.
I didn't even realize Kilborn was 'gone for good.' I hardly ever watch late night tv. Did he have a 'last show'? Or did he just up and leave?
How did Craig Ferguson do? I always thought he was great on Drew Carey (not that hard to do). I like Michael Ian Black, but lately, as I've seen him on those VH1 shows like the I Love the's and Best Week Ever, and any other clone where people talk about pop culture, he's seemed really reserved. He just doesn't seem like the same guy from the State, Stella, and Viva Variety.
I actually like him on those shows, even though the shows themselves are lame. He's the only reason I watch them. He has a VERY dry delivery, which I like.
I stayed up just to catch Romie. He did a great job and tried to stay away from sports type of Jungle talk. For the most part he did, but he was still Romie to me. No doubt he's a good smart broadcaster and I think he would do a great job at hosting a show. It might take some time to get away from his heavy sports affiliated personality, but I've always liked him anyway so sure, I'd like to see him host the Late, Late show or something there of.
